How Easy/Hard would it be to turbo a 1.4:yum:?? As i dont want anything to big as fuel prices are killer atm:bang: . Ive seen a engine but want to turbo it whileits outside the car.

Can anyone help Pictures would be great. :)

I think you are in uncharted waters with this project. The only tubocharging of a Stilo I'm aware of is one of our Greek bretheren who turbo'd a 1.6...then fitted a V6 Alfa engine when it blew up!

Frankly, I wouldn't bother. Sell it and buy something else that closer suits your needs. The money you will have to throw at it will take years to pay back in any fuel savings (which are unlikley anyway).

if fuel prices are killing you
how do you think the cost of the conversion, essential upgrades and insurance will go?

Sure it wont matter after the boost kicks in, the smile on his face will be epic.

You will soon learn if you have to come onto a Forum to ask how hard would it be to Turbo a 1.4 then it wont be happening. It will take a lot of money and worrying about petrol kind of nullifies the project.

could just whack a Tjet in there, pretty sure that would be cheaper than trying to stick a turbo on a non turbo

Guys hes asking how its done not whether or not he can do it or not.
If he wants to get some information let him, turboing his engine externally is not a bad idea, if he doesnt have money for it at the moment thats fine because he can begin saving, and his age is also not an issue if thats the case, he has plenty of time to work on a project.

I think a good way to go is start with a larger N/A at first for the swap im sure it'l be less then a turbo'd machine but later you could think about bigger things, sc's turbos etc.

Wonder if a turbo'd 1.4 could be remapped with the turbo to provide better economy. Although the T-jet idea aint half bad either!

It really makes no sense at all to turbo the 1.4, firstly to cope with a turbo you would need a set of lower comp. ratio pistons, new (possibly one off fabricated) manifold, possibly an uprated crank, and a custom map on the ecu, oh and a turbo, then an engineers report for a modified car, and stupid insurance premiums ( a car modded to be 150bhp from 100 would be dearer to insure than a 150bhp model from the same range) the costs involved would be huge unless you had a reason to stick with that car, then your better getting a faster model from the off.

That being said if you chuck enough cash at it it would be possible, anything is if you have the cash to burn on it, but not viable
