Hi all, forgive me if any other thread has been started on this one... but all the ones I could find involved power loss.

My 2004 Stilo JTD 1.9 releases a cloud of black smoke at 2000 RPM when the turbo kicks in... there is no power loss that I can feel.

Has anyone got suggestions? Thanks for your help!

Without being rude, have you driven other Stilo JTD's. Maybe there is a power loss but you just don't know about it?

I had the MEGA black smoke when my EGR valve was blocked. Clean that out and then blank it off and trust me the missing power came back.

Absolutely hundred of posts on how to clean the EGR valve on here.

Hope that helps. If you cant find the posts give me a shout and I will find it.

Thanks Oakley28, maybe there is power loss. What I guess I mean is that there is no noticeable choking of any kind when the turbo kicks in. Having said that, I don't get blasted into hyperspeed either.

Could you feel any choking on yours when you had the black smoke?

I'll try cleaning the EGR this weekend.
Thanks again!
