General Tired or worn door pillars

The black door pillars on the Chicken were looking a bit the worse for wear - especially the rear doors, where it seems people like to push the door closed using the pillar rather than the door handle... some of the black had worn away, looked very untidy.
Anyhow, a cheap and cheerful solution that works - get some scuff covering liquid shoe polish, and give it a general good coating - the brushmarks dry away, leaving a nice black showroom finish. Use the scuff covering stuff rather than general polish or cleaning stuff though.... it's also good for any black trim, scuffs etc.

well the best stuff i have found to cover black things up and it is the trick of the trade is BABY OIL
it is better than any other product on the market, all the car valet garages use it and also they use it for the show room cars.

give it a go. you will be surprised

Interesting! But surely every time it rains you'll be left with oily streaks running down the car won't you?

I reckon it will wash away, and you'll only get three or four applications per baby. Despite increasing child benefit, I'm not prepared to add another sprog just for shiny door pillars. I'll stick to the shoe polish!

well i can only say this. i wash 3 cars a week and i only put baby oil on them of the start of every month.
its cheap enough - go to pound land or somewhere like that and one bottle will last you a hell of a lot longer than any other product plus its only a £1

i use it! and found it out from my friend who worked in a car veleting place.

he said baby oil on all black trim and white vineger with new paper for all windows.

The vinegar and newspaper one I get, but I don't understand how clear baby oil can cover up scuffs and scratches on a black surface.

Totally agree on the baby oil. Seems to lubricate and put the oil back which has evaporated or otherwise disappeared from plastic and rubber. Also makes a nice sheen but not too black and lasts a long time
