Hi, had a painful day today but needs must!

Replacement Camshaft Drivebelt Kit
Recharge Aircon
Full Annual Service

Notes on the service:
1) Nearside front driveshaft oil seal is leaking oil from from gearbox, new seal required.
2) Rear exhaust mount split and very weak, New required.
3) Slight movement in nearside front lower ball joint and nearside front inner track rod joint. (rattle)
4) All brake discs below advised minimum thickness, new required.
5) Steering wheel slightly out of alignment.

Now, i am reasonably confident at attempting some of this but would like to know from those who know how, just how easy are the above jobs to do. I am happy to do the exhaust mount, and quite possibly the discs.

Can anybody advise me on the best places to buy parts and the difficulty of the jobs.

Many thanks in advance to all :slayer:

Notes on the service:
1) Nearside front driveshaft oil seal is leaking oil from from gearbox, new seal required. Medium difficulty job which would probably need tools only a garage would have (to remove the shaft).
2) Rear exhaust mount split and very weak, New required. Easy. Mounting bracket unblots from the underside of the car.
3) Slight movement in nearside front lower ball joint and nearside front inner track rod joint. (rattle) Rattles from the front could also be drop links. But if it is ball joint, the whole lower wishbone will need replacing. DIY possible, but medium difficulty.
4) All brake discs below advised minimum thickness, new required. Definitely DIY possible.
5) Steering wheel slightly out of alignment. IMHO best left to someone with full laser four-wheel alignment kit.

Now, i am reasonably confident at attempting some of this but would like to know from those who know how, just how easy are the above jobs to do. I am happy to do the exhaust mount, and quite possibly the discs.

N/s oil seal + ball joint, i would do both of them in one hit, the lower wishbone is a doddle to do if you have a ball joint splitter, once that is out just pull the cv joint gator off and pull the drive shaft until it becomes free, be prepaired for your gearbox oil to come with it so drain as much as you can before hand.
There is a circlip that holds the driveshaft in position (you cant access it), just pull it until it comes free - it may feel like its never gona come but it will if you put enough effort into it (shock pulls ive found the best, push then suddenly pull and it will come eventully, you need to get the circlip to close so need to pull it violently) or you may need something to wedge it out, but becareful as the gearbox is only alum cast so can break easily..
pop the seal on once the shaft is out then pop the shaft back into position, it may take a mallet to very gently!!! coax it home.

lower wishbone, easy as pie, - just make sure you but the bolts in first then DONT tighten yet, then using a long screwdriver or similar wedge behind the back end (the rubber round circle side) as far forward as possible then tighten.

then the front end do the same pulling the lower wishbone towards you, this makes sure that the lower wishbone is tight in postition. do this before inserting the ball joint into postion.
only track after this is completed

breaks are a real doodle, just remember that the rear calipers only wind towards the front of the car, you can get a special tool to do this job, but ive always used long nosed plyers and wound them in this way. just make sure the break fluid cap is removed before hand - if you have had your car serviced at garages you may need to remove some brake fluid as they have the nasty habit of topping up the fluid (not needed as when the fluid drops it gives you a good idea what condion your brake pads are in).
Once you have done all four top up the fluid to the max mark.

the back box holder is normal, ive changed a few of these in the past, but the bit you need to be carefull of is the back box can hit your springs if not correctly mounted, you may have to slightly twist it away from the suspension springs, it took me an age when i first done the job to work out what the banging was on the car (infact i thought it was originally the rear bushes lol).
these mounts you have to get from fiat.

another note, on the brakes put some copper slip on the back of the pads (BACKS) this will stop that brake screech when stopping, just make sure it ths back otherwise you wont stop.
