Tuning strut brace

As I said, each to his own. In my view, even at a 'sensible speed' the Stilo, as standard, corners like a boat and for most passengers is far from a 'comfortable' or 'enjoyable' experience.

I have to agree. I would think the shocks are the problem, and a part of the reason why the springs snap. They are like bicycle pumps compared to new shocks. The Stilo is very non-Italian, and the seller of mine (who also had his Stilo changed to the Eibachs) said "this is the way it should have come from the assembly line."

My son got carsick all the time (and not only with me driving, just had to clarify that), but this stopped like someone waved a magic wand over the car after I changed the springs and shocks to Eibach. Have never hit the ground or bumps since either, but before - the front faced the asphalt on every 2nd speedbump.

Floating is much better than trying to look cool by taking a corner to quickly. (y)

The standard Stilo suspension is perfect for the car. If a Stilo rolls badly when cornering your going to fast, slow down before someone gets hurt.

I have no intention of "trying to look cool", I simply want a car that's more involving to drive and more capable of taking a corner at ANY speed. I'm not entirely sure how my desire for an increase in cornering ability automatically implies I'm taking corners too quickly, which therefore leads me to driving in a reckless and possibly harmful manner

This highlights the fact that we all drive in different ways. Some of us like to feel what the car is doing round corners and are spirited drivers that maybe need a 4 seater hatchback for practicality when we would prefer a 2 seater sports car, others prefer to drive around in a relaxed manner appreciating the scenery.

Personally I have a pulse so my Stiilo runs on coilovers, and upper and lower braces and i hate when i catch up with Shadeyman and his funeral procession that do 40 in a 60 limit and then keep the same speed in a 30.

Mind you when i am driving through town centres i do slow down to admire the scenery;)

Ive said it before and ill say it again if you really want to improve the Stilo Handling you need to look into the whole suspension set up. A Strut brace isnt going to make any dramatic difference.
If your going to go to the extremes needed then you may as well just buy a Schumacher GP. It will be cheaper.

gen 5....even though the gen 6 feels "stronger" im a sucker for those pop up lights!...but need a few more years experience in the bag before i get one of those. or ill end up in a tree...not to mention insurance...its raping me already :(

a little OT but http://www.skewer.co.uk/ click on Projects>Rufus for some gen 5 porn;)

Hi people's just got a omp front upper brace for my 1.4 as stilo , questions ......

Best way to go about it .....

Drill and tap top mounts .... What bolts and what size and length ????

Drill top mounts straight through with what bolts and nuts and don't they foul on the strut from inside when turning ???

Cheers guys need some insight info tbh :/

I thought if you've purchased the correct strut brace it bolts straight on to the top of the strut using the existing bolts, no drilling or extra bolts needed?

the omp brace bolts onto the strut tower not the top of the strut. Would post up a pic but i can't be arsed to go to my car at the moment

i'll save you the trouble martin :D. i tapped mine through - theres about 6mm of metal on the strut top, however a nut wound up on the bottom of the bolt would be a better way of holding it down? just a little messing around, taking the wheels off to do it? plus a pain if you ever need to remove it?
