Tuning Diesel Performance UK (Tuning boxes)

Standard for my Sporting 150 is 8.8s I think (though I think this is closer to 8.5 in reality)...I don't know what I could potentially achieve with a box fitted...I'll find out at some point!

i think theres a guy with a 150 sport round the corner from me. blue with active writen on the back?

if so then im going to sit outside his house and when he comes out try and persuade him to sell it me (y)

just a thought.... does anyone know of anyone who has done an engine swap on a stilo?

The 150 has Sporting on the wings no Active on the back.

Just come across this thread as i'm seriously thinking about a tuning box.
I am new to Fiats, but not new to diesels, having many over the years and also an impressively tuned Pug 306 Dturbo (mechanical tuned).

I bought a Brava JTD 105 (2001) last summer as a work car and have been very impressed with it so far, it's only covered 67k.
I have been toying with the idea of a remap but I don't like the idea of spending almost the value of the car on a remap, so have been thinking about the tuning box route, but it is a bit of a nightmare finding a good one.

I'm not after ridiculous power gains as I want to put the least amount of stress on the DMF and clutch. I've seen remaps that would turn my 105 into 132bhp and 260 torque, to be honest thats more than enough as I used to have a Seat Ibiza 130 TDI and that was pretty rapid.
Basically I want something that makes the engine that little bit more free revving and can keep in the tolerances of the clutch and what it can handle.

I have been looking with intent on buying the Synergy 1 system from Tuning Diesels as it seems very promising and gives the option of low bhp/med torque etc.
Would I be right in thinking that if I kept the settings lowish I would be fine on the clutch and DMF? I don't tend to accelerate hard with todays fuel prices anyway!

I have been using a synergy 1 for several yeats now. Originally on a Multipla and now on a 3 door 115.

In my opinion it is the best power upgrade for your money and certainly changes the performance of the car without any clutch slip. I have it set to position three on both low & high range and it has 'smoothed' the engine and yet there is more power when needed.

Without doubt the best performance enhancer I have purchased in my fifty odd years of car ownership.

Don't hesitate, send for it today. You will not regret it!

Hey, does anyone have any pics to show where i connect the ItalianBox tuning box on a 1.9JTDm Grande Punto?

Any chance you could post one up to give me an idea of where it need to be connected...

Thanks in advance guys..

You might have more success if you post your question in the Punto section.

Edit.
This vid shows how quickly it can be installed.

Plugs into the pressure sensor on the fuel rail. 90% of tuning boxes work this way, makes no difference how much they cost they all do pretty much the same thing.

Just saw this thread come up when i did a search. Guessed there wouldn't be much difference in where the box would be connected, be it on a punto, stilo, bravo etc... surely it can't be much different...

I have seen that video, but i doesnt really tell you where exactly you have to plug it in.

Thanks.

Any one else got one, any suggestions?

Bump!!

Bought one of these....

Decided that I would go for one with a window so you can see the electronics, as I have read bad things about dodgy transistors in big boxes?

Let me know what you think :)

Ps I know I'm using the wrong thread Due to me owning a grande but you guys seem to know what you are talking about, unlike the pro remapping crew that are the grande punto lot lol

steve119 Regardless of how fancy the electronics look it does exactly the same thing as most others, increases the fuel rail pressure by lying to the engines ECU.

As long as you are aware of this and any potential harm it can do go a head and purchase it.

I used to have a tuning box on my Stilo JTD, best modification you can buy for under £100 IMO so enjoy your purchase. (y)

I had a tuning box from cr tech and did the job very well
But on my current car im gonna spend a little bit more and just remap ecu
The tuning box was great, passed mot with it and i had much better mpg (60 mpg on a run with nearly full car) but the power was delivered in a brutal manner and was not smooth like in a remap. Also tons of black smoke under hard acceleration...but for £80 was such good value!
