My passenger door has deceided to play up

Sometimes when I unlock it the door deceides it just aint opening, using either the inside or outside handles dont help.

I usually commute on my own to and back from work and only tend to have passengers on the weekend, so not too sure how often its happening.... I was at Fiat getting something sorted and while I was there they cleaned the connections... anyone else had this?

The mechanic suggested maybe a lock problem but wanted to give it a clean first..

Just to add... if its playing silly buga's, it'll open up usually after five locking and unlocking with the key button..

its common were the doors freeze shut on the stilo, its something to do with the locking mechanism! i had that problem wiv one of my stilo's seems it happens when they door isnt used much and if its not lub'd enough (thats my opinion!) previous threads will explain more and show how many other people this has happened to! Just complain until they replace the locking mechanism on the door, instead or freeing and cleaning it! as this cud be quite expensive if not under warrenty! as its a easy but time consuming job for a garage!

It is apparently the latch, not the lock. I had this problem, it only seemed to occur when you double plip, to activate the deadlocks!

It is possible to get the door to open, try this.....

Sit in the car, with the plipper in your hand, and constantly lock and unlock and pull the interior handle (don't yank it, just pull it like your opening it). Keep doing this and it will eventually unlock. If the plipper stops working, which it will eventually, stick it in the ignition and turn it to the II position, then remove and keep trying.

Eventually you'll get in, and so long as you don't deadlock the doors you'll be ok, until the garage replaced the latch.

Do a search on here, i did a more comprehensive post on it about a year ago.

First time on this forum (thanks to KoArAnG for pointing me in the right direction!) I have suffered from the same problems with my driver's door, but only when the weather is freezing. When I took it to the garage (having climbed in through the window cos I park tight against a wall) they couldn't find anything wrong :bang: So it looks like I will demanding a new lock mechanism before my warranty runs out in May.
04 Abarth - craking car, as long as the temperature stays above freezing!!

OK I'm being Mr Thickie from Denseville - mind you my local dealer will take 3 years to fix it. Once they had sold the car to me that was that - a couple of pre delivery requirements took 3 months for them to sort out. Reg Vardy Reading SUCK :bang:

Theres a new bulletin out to dealers on how to lubricate the cable between handle & lock, pig of a job & time consuming but works.Renewing lock isn't always succesful as its been found out said cable need lubricant so it will happen again which is why dealers not happy bout changing locks all the time.
