Can anybody tell me why my windows work for a short while after taking out the key? When I jump into the car, I have to turn the key to open the windows, but when I take out the key they will still work for a while.
Maybe its on a timer so if you forget to shut them, you still can without having to put the key back in.
Then again, you can shut them with the remote when you lock the doors.
I'm just wondering if this is a fault as I'm taking the car in to get the drivers side fixed, which hardly ever works at all, even with the engine on.

Oh, and another thing - is it normal for the radio to come on every time I start the car? (Even if it was switched off last time). I just need to know if this is a fault so I can mention it when I'm back at the garage.

No it isn't a fault on both counts. You can shut the windows for about 20-30 seconds after you have switched the engine off. This is something my Stilo does and my old Punto used to do. You mentioned you can close the windows with the remote but I believe you can only do this on the Abarth model. It is actually very useful on the lesser models and it would seem abit pointless to remove this feature from the Abarth model just because you can operate the windows from the remote.

Secondly, yes the radio is supposed to switch on when you start the ignition. I would imagine there is a way to switch this feature off but I for one haven't bothered to look as I always have the radio on.

I can do it on mine. Use it all the time.

I have never tried to open/close the windows (with the door controls) after removing the key from the ignition, though. I will try this on my way home tonight. :)

I accept no responsibility for anything contained in my posts, or any decisions you make based on them.[^]

Maybe the remote function was added to later models. I have the same model as you (1.6 Dynamic 3dr) but mine was one of the earlier models (March 02).

I can't remember exactly, but there is an option to have the radio automatically turn on or not when you start the engine - it is buried somewhere in the sub-menus on the radio itself (try holding down 'TA' or similar to access it) its called something obvious like 'AUTO SWITCHING: ON' (or OFF)
My car, a Dymanic spec, also let's me do the windows from the remote. One problem I'm having with the windows is the driver's side window squeeks as it comes near the end of its travel down. When you bring it back up, you can see a 'waxy' line of something that is rubbing on the glass, nothing major but very annoying. I could take it in to get looked at, but I always worry that if they have to take parts off to get to it, these garages never seem to be able to put things back together without breaking something!

Window opperation after removing the key is not a bug is a feature. At night you can see the lights on the window keys (on drivers door) for about 30 seconds and the windows do opperate during that time. In my opinion it's a good feature that let you close the windows when you forget them open even if you have removed the key (in case you don't have the multi-function remote contol). By the way mine does let you open/close the windows using the remote control but has been purchased after March 03.

Yes, it's a good feature to have. Unfortunately, it's the only time my drivers side works. There's an intermittant fault and it hardly works at all, except in the presence of a Fiat technician of course.

Idge: Yes, I've seen that "Autoswitching" thing somewhere, I'll have to try and find it again as it wasn't that obvious to me what it was for.

The window feature, operating for a while has been a feature on most cars with electric windows I have ever seen.

Mine also works with the remote, up and down. Great feature.

Mine was "luckily" still misbehaving in front of the technician, couldn´t find it direct and now the´ve ordered a new body computer (the Examiner didn´t report any faults with it, but they couldn´t diagnose my door neither).

Is it just windows with you or are your electric mirror, central locking and outside temp display on the fritz too like mine...?

Everything else is fine. It's just the drivers side window. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. However, it always works using the remote, and it always works for a few minutes after removing ignition key.
The only other little thing is when using the remote to open or close the doors, the indicators don't flash, but I like it that way.

Radio can be set to stay on or turn off via the Menu.
Windows can be closed or opened by the remote by holding the appropriate button for a few seconds.
Also works on the Skywindow at the same time.
Depends on how long you hold it pressed for to close or open.
Also the lights stay illuminated on the interior buttons for a short while when you remove the ignition key.
Good feature as far as I am concerned.

Stillo Dynamic MW 1.9.JDT All electrics Skywindow SatNav+ Xenon Headlights.
Hoping to have the rear parking sensor fitted.
Ordered when I purchased the the car April 17. But they sent the wrong one.(For H/back Stillo, not the same fitting, then sent one for the Marea Weekend, wrong one again)In the Garage to-day but not ready by this afternoon as promised, Also it should have had puddle lights but just red reflectors fitted but it says they
are fitted in the handbook and in the Brochure. They should be fitted as well.
Have requested software update to v9.7.
Had have few problems with satnav+ screeching and poor
radio reception, this has been changed once.

Any one have any comments on the radio reception. I get interferance when passing near some power lines. Not the ones on Pylons though.

Ham...........:)

I'm afraid I can't find the right menu for switching off the radio. I've read the manual aswell! I'll just have to live with it. My puddle lights work fine, and radio reception is good.
I've just found the equalizer, and set it to "rock". Much improved sound, although I'll be changing speakers and adding a sub and amps sometime.

I will look into the radio turning off when I get the car Back.
Not ready till to-morrow now thats two days they have had it.
It seems that one of the reversing sensors is faulty and it keeps saying it is near an obstacle when its not, so thay have ordered a replacement. Puddle lights
have been fitted though. Hooray....

Can you fit a sub to the existing setup. Also was thinking of a multi changer but I think that will be expensive as it has SAT-Nav+ fitted. single cd.

Ham..................

NB. I think the option to turn the radio on off is in the Audio menu of the radio setup.......

I've looked at all the menu's, and can't any way to change the on/off. I did however find the "Clip" feature, which was stopping the volume from going really loud. I noticed that after about volume mark 20 it was going up to 30 without getting louder, but now I've turned the clip off and it goes really loud and extremely distorted.
I don't see why you can't fit a sub to the existing setup. It would need to be active, or have a seperate amp, but it can be done. I think there's low level outputs, but if not, some amps take high level inputs (the speaker outputs from the head unit).

Hi all!
There are 3 menus on the CD player. The one is the manual equilizer and can be found by pressing the button under the volume. If the same button is pressed for 5 seconds you get the standard equilizer (rock, jazz, etc). The second menu is the one you get by pressing the menu button (i think that is what it says on the button). The third menu (THE ONE YOU ARE LOOKING FOR) is displayed when you keep the menu button pressed for 5 seconds. Then you keep pushing it until you get to the "AUTO SWITCHING" or something like that. Then by pressing the >> or << you change it from ON to OFF.
That's all. Excuse me for not remembering the names on the buttons. :I

I've tried that. It's "AF Switching" which I believe is for retuning the station when you exit a particular area. For example when driving down the M1 the radio will keep you tuned to Radio1 all the way down.
Or maybe I'm just confused and thick.[)]
I've tried everything anyway, and the damn thing always starts up when I stick the key in.

Wow hold on!
The auto switching (ON/OFF) is not a feature that works when you stick the key but when you stick out the key. When ON and you turn of the car the radio turns off too. When OFF the radio stays on after switching off the car for about 20 minutes.
That's all!! :D
