I have a 1.6 04 plate dynamic and.........

1) I am thinking about getting rid of the lip effort of an exhaust that comes as standard on a stilo. I dont want anything too loud but I want it to have some tone. What suggestions has anyone got and how much ?

2) I am also thinking about an induction kit. Whats the best out there for my car and are they worth getting, what alternatives are they? Do they do their job or are they a waste of time?

Cheers guys!

Hi just read you posting. If you want an exhaust just for sound then consider a universal stainless steel backbox but be prepared to have to do some tinkering. On the other hand I would suggest going for a supersprint system ( average £320 for backbox & £240 for centre section) they are expensive but they are tuned to the car. As for an induction system your best bet is a K&N 57i kit which relatively easy to install & will produce more power. I would also recommend investigating an ECU remap as fitting an exhaust & induction kit could possibly make your engine run lumpy or rough as you are altering the gas flow. Cheers

Well I don't really know as I'm not a qualified Mechanical engineer. But I have fitted these kit's to my previous cars & they have all produced a lot more driveability & they do tend to make a lovely noise. As for remaps I would suggest taking the car to a proper rolling road tuners i.e someone who really knows what the're doing. A remap & rolling road session starts from about £200.

Oh I forgot to say anyone like Superchips or Angel tuning would be your best bet.

Please do NOT mention us in the same sentance as Super****s - who wil charge you £511 for very little gain and they do not do rolling road tuning.

However, the 1.6 cannot be done by ourselves and the K&N 57i is just a waste of space, even in a bin! A BMC CDA is the way to go, we fit them on a regular basis and they work whereas the K&N doesnt. When we tested them on a CDT the K&N produced 0.8% gain and the CDA produces 5.6% both were at the hub figures.

If you want one supplied and fitted then we will do it for £210, we dont just "supply" as we cannot compete with stack em high, sel em cheap places such as www.motorsportworld.co.uk - we are so adamant that these things are superb that we would rather you went and bought one from someone else - just buy one!!

An engine re-map is similar in theory to an ECU eprom chip except it is a new program downloaded into the cars ECU but works in a similar way. It basically adjusts the fuel/air mixture. It should iron out any flat spots & make the car more driveable particularly in the mid range. I don't know about fuel consumption you would have to enquire at a proper tuners to find out. Try Angel tuning.

To alfanige sorry if I offended you. I would have to agree with you though about the BMC airbox hope to get one myself soon.

'Iis OK I had my tongue firmly in cheek!

The Stilo 1.2 is a bit hit and miss as to whether we can get the overlay to work, something to do with the checksum. If you write all the numbers down off your ECU and EMAIL them to us we can tell you.

It should improve the fuel economy by the way

im still at the same economy, but im still having a bit of fun with the acceleration in the low gears, plesently feeling a lovely kick in of nippyness now :).

Another thing I like, its more responcive with the motorway driving :)
I might try an econ test some time but I always end up playing about at times ;)
thats in the brava 1.2 anyway, same engine :)
