indicators not flashing after i lock it

mmm just noticed that the car lights dont flash once i have locked / unlocked it, mmm what could it be a blown fuse and yes it did use to work and i dont have an alarm any ideas guys?

Re: indicators not flashing after i lock it

I've heard of plenty of Stilos that don't flash in the first place, when locking/unlocking, but never heard of any that stop flashing.

Not had anything reset by the main dealer have you?

Re: indicators not flashing after i lock it

nope they were working untill i blew a fuse in the car for the stereo and then since then they have decided not to work

Re: indicators not flashing after i lock it

Assuming indicators and hazards are OK then it's possible the body computer has taken some damage.

I'd take to a dealer/garage with Examiner and see if it's possible to reset it.

Flashing indicators when locking/unlocking?

Is there any way of getting the indicators to flash when you lock or unlock the stilo?

Yep take the car to fiat and put on diagnostic machine and activate it..all later cars were done ..

Re: Flashing indicators when locking/unlocking?

Ah, OK, so it is do-able then. Is there any DIY way? Is there any way of getting the software and cable needed? with my VW I bought a lead from ebay to let me do these sorts of things.

PNL has just given you the cheap option but I suppose if you throw enough time & money at something like this then it just might be possible.

This question has been asked about 101 time before - try using Search and you'll get plenty of answers.

The answer is always to take it a Fiat garage and get them to do it using the Examiner system. The setting seems to be in the setup for the alarm system, even if your car does not have an alarm fitted.
If you are good with electrickery, you could do what I have done...
The fuel filler flap is locked/unlocked with the doors, so I added a relay in parallel with the solenoid that locks the flap. One contact of this relay is connected to a rear indicator bulb and the other is connected to a normally closed contact on a second relay. The common contact of the second relay is connected to a permanent live feed. The coil of the second relay has connection to earth and an ignition feed.
The effect is that when the doors/flap are locked or unlocked the indicator flashes (but it doesn't flash when the doors lock automatically). This is not as fiddly as it sounds but you need to know what you are doing to achieve it. Next move is feed the other rear indicator through a diode.
Due to the CAN-bus wiring the front and rear indicators are separate circuits so getting all four to flash would mean running diode fed wiring to the front - at that point, the Examiner route becomes attractive !!
Please do not ask me for a wiring diagram - if you cannot make sense of the above, I recommend that you do not try it.

Re: Flashing indicators when locking/unlocking?

Each indicator bulb is directly fed from the body computer. For example - when the front right indicator lights up, the rear right only lights up because the body computer is driving both of them, not because the rear light is on the same circuit as the front one (as in older cars).

Re: Flashing indicators when locking/unlocking?

I had this done today by a fiat specialist

(It took so long because Fiat missed a number off the chassis number)

And it cost me £23.00 (the cost of the code card) and it was programmed for free.

It'll probably be more expensive from fiat so an auto electrican or specialist is the best bet.

Re: Flashing indicators when locking/unlocking?

Not sure what you are trying to say here but surely you would agree that the entire Stilo electrical system is built around the CAN system/concept?
This particular discussion isn't really contributing to the topic though.

Re: Flashing indicators when locking/unlocking?

I was pointing out this is incorrect.

You could of course do all the wiring at the body computer using the lock/unlock command to trigger the 2 relays....connected in turn to the 4 indicator outputs from body computer thus keeping all wiring confined into the one area.

code card is no more than a tenner;)
