Hello,

i really have problems with starting the stilo when the temperature goes under a certain point.

When it`s like 5°C it takes more time to start the engine as in summer when it`s hot, but not so bad.

But when it freezes outside i normally will have to try for about 20 seconds until the engine starts finally.

Does anyone know what the problem could be? It`s definately not the battery and not the air flow meter, since these parts have been replaced already.

I wonder if my thoughts are right:

I tried the V-Power diesel from shell last time and the engine starts a little better. Is it possible that the engine doesn`t produce enough compression anymore? The V-Power has a higher octan number and from what i know the fuel ignites under lower compression than normal fuel.

You must now that i modified my Stilo with a G-Tech Box when i bought it and later i drove to G-Tech to optimize it. In the end my stilo JTD had 163PS :D. And i have to admit that i really tormented it in the beginning nearly all time ;).

Now its 9 years old with 160000 km and i really would like to drive it in the future.

Ah, and when i made it to start the engine when it`s really cold, i don`t have a problem to start it again when i switch it off.

Ah, the glow plugs also has been checked and two were replaced.
