Hi all i was wondering if anyone know which colour wire is the one that goes out of the ignition to the starter??

(not the ignition live just the starter) thanks

For all manual gearbox petrol and 8 valve JTD versions, it's a brown (M) wire from the ignition switch (H1) terminal 50 (connector A, pin 3) that goes to the engine fuse box (B1) terminal A15. Terminal A15 of the fuse box is connected internally to pin C19. Pin C19 has a brown/white (MB) wire that goes to terminal 50 (connector B) of the starter motor solenoid (A20).

For 16 valve JTD versions, a brown/white wire goes from the ignition switch terminal 50 direct to the starter solenoid terminal 50.

thanks again davren, mines a 14 hundress 16v petrol. would this be a brown/white wire??

i am going to sell some starter buttong kits so i was going to test one out on mine first lol

No.... yours should be the brown wire from ignition switch to fuse box then a brown/white wire from fuse box to starter solenoid according to the wiring diagram.

The dotted wire on the diagram is brown/white for the 16v JTD.

Bear in mind that there's no relay in the circuit, so you will need a push button switch with about 20 amp contacts unless you're going to incorporate a 20 amp relay into your kit.
