I have found that the Stilo dash is a bugger to clean (polish) the slight ripple in the plastic seems to shread the cloth I use leaving littles bits of fluff eveywhere.

Whats the best way to get a nice shiny dash ?

Have you ever tried them sponge things, i think they are coated in some sort of oil.... #i got my one from morrisons, so i think they sell them in most shops.

I use one of them on my dash, and makes it look nice afterwards. Also it wouldn't leave fluff anywhere. :)

what you mean, it's like those silly shoe shiners!

I don't like those, they leave an oily residue and it's a dust magnet.

Yep, thats the one

Probably not too good then, but if you don't have much time to clean the dash/shoes they're magic. Use the shoe one all the time, doesn't compare to the polish though.

Tip- don't put it on your steering wheel

Re: I know........................

I know you probably want a proper cleaner but if you just want dust removal there's actually an amazing product out for dusting which would work fine on a dash. It's one of those items you think "bet it doesn't work" by JML or similar on TV lol. We were told by word of mouth to get one and it's the best non-liquid based dust cleaner.

They are big in the US but I can't remember what you should be looking for by name, anyway, it's statically charged I believe and has a sort of waxy feel but it doesn't leave any residue.

Not sure if this is what Joe is refering to.

Nope............................

you are talking about a different product Paul, which is great for removing dust but it doesn't physically clean and remove grime so it's not really apropriate, I think we need something a little more substantial, oo-err!

Re: Nope............................

Fair enough, the thing I am refering to is ok for dusting surfaces at home and small amounts of grime but nothing like a bit of say mr sheen.

I reccommend it to everybody, out of memory it might be called a Californian duster? Might be totally wrong though.

Not back to the subject...

Re: Yes Paul....................................

My car? WIth the uno just a bit of Mr Sheen and a polishing cloth (one dry, one for the polish) was fine, steering wheel was very dilute soapy water, windows with window cleaner of course. Never a problem but then again the plastics in a uni are hardly high sheen finish ;)

THe Laguna is yet to be cleaned by me inside.....

Re: Yes Paul....................................

And I refuse to go down your track of ambiguities ;)

Re: Ambiguous??

Not sure Joe why?
I can picture the bottle.

Best way to use any window cleaner (be it waterered down vinegar or proper window cleaner) in my experience is to apply with a tea towel (I find dish clothes don't absorb the stuff very well), leave for about 30 seconds when fully cleaned then wipe off with a second tea towel. Again - tea towel is good due to absorbancy. Newspaper also works.

That way you get no streaking and a perfectly cleaned window. I like clean windows so that happens more often than I clean my car.

I was gonna use a proper window cleaner, not a car one... and i was told it causes too much glare?!

Oh yeah, with the vinegar, its the normal (brown) one right?

cheers

Never had a problem with brown vinegar as a window cleaner nor have i had a problem with glare using a normal window cleaner though can only speak from my experience.

There's probably some fancy "use xml of vinegar and a twist of lemon" etc. for the mixture but i simply find 50/50 vinegar/water does the job, sadly it smells.....!

I also do both sides, never just the inside. If you have washed the outside, unless done very well you will still get slight residue on the glass which you don't want.

I use a one of those computer keyboard brushes for dusting, and apply a mat finish cleaner from time to time using a lint free 'micro cloth', you can buy them all over.

I have not really had much call to clean my dash as for some reason it never gets any dust on it ?

The few times i have cleaned it, when theres a small mark on it, I have used the leather interior cleaning spray that i got as a freebee from go waterless, it conditions too and it doesn't go really waxy looking. To apply it, I used an ordinary dish cloth and it didn't leave any crap on the dash, maybe because the spray has a conditioner in and it allows the cloth to move over the surface more freely.
