Hello all,

First of all, i have searched this forum alot and did not find my exact problem. Sorry if i missed someones post so please bear with me ^^
I hope you guys can help i bought a fiat stilo 2002 abrath selespeed.
Problem is i get gearbox failure warning on dashboard. The car wants to go to 2nd gear then (if i am in third it will shift back) but it will just continue in 4th or 5th gear.

This happens randomly, and disappears randomly aswell. I have fiatecuscan and it tells me the error:
Turbine speed sensor fault.
Seems something with the ABS / Speed system but i cant read that one out on Fiatecuscan (says it cant connect)

Now what should i check and where to look? Anything i am forgetting?
i dont know where everything is located as i am more of a computer tech then a car tech.

Thanks in advanced!
AK

If I remember from the alfa 147 you can connect to the gearbox ecu using alfa diag, would assume there's one for the stilo as it's pretty much the same, make sure you check the sele fluid is topped up and check the pump primes when you open the passenger door, it could be a number of things, there's a massive thread over on the alfa owners forum on what to check all be it on an alfa but it's basically the same set up

Pump works, has enough bar aswell. Fluid level is good. Do you have a link on alfa forum?

I figured out (reading the logs and errors) that it has something to do with the clutch speed/ Clutch RPM. It doesnt read the signal right. just tested it while in error and it doesnt read it.

Didnt get it out of error in the short time, so dont know what happens if it doesnt have the errror. i am guessing then it gets a read out of the clutch speed sensor.

Can anyone tell me or give me a link where i can find that sensor so i can check it? or any other tips?

You can have a pump which works, but if you are geting a figure of over 55Bar when the pump stops then you have a faulty accumulator and that would need replacing, this does also affect the car when trying to change gear as the stored pressure is there to perform the selection change, NOT the pump itself and if there isn't enough pressure stored then it either wont be able to leave the current gear or engage the next, in which case it will either stay in the current gear or drop to neutral.

The clutch speed sensor is on the front of the gearbox has a brass case and orange socket for the plug which comes off the selespeed loom, not to be confused with the revering light switch.
