Hi i'm going to start hopfully the project of more power on the shumi begining of the year. just after your view and if anyone knows if and where possible parts could be.

first one head/cams

I'm looking at buying a seperate head with cams so i dont loose the car for too long.

want to port and polish the head with new valves etc and as kent cams dont do cams kits for the stilo shumi i going to have to take standard cams in for alteration.

i will be posting pic up as i go along buti'm expecting it to take a while.

look forward to hear you views

If your going all out then i recommend you replace the Injectors with Alfa GTA ones. Greggers had a thread that illustrated the reasons really well. It was called my 5 door Abarth or something like that.

Then i have looked at the possibility of Boring the engine out and using alfa GTA forged pistons. Im not sure its possible but certainly a line that im willing take at the same time as you. Then we may get things done cheaper and as they say 2 heads are better than one.

Im still unsure on changing the Induction. Im going to do everything on the standard filter with an uprated panel and see how things progress from there.

Im not sure what major benefits doing the cams on a road car is. They only really come into their own above 4.5k revs. I dont find the acceleration at this point in need of major improvment. I would rather concentrate lower down the rev range.

mmmmmm yeah sounds like a plan.
i may have to do some more homework on the cams then.
but im going to keep the k&n pannel filter looked at the induction but i want the shumi to look as standard as i possible can.

on the bore front i did not really consider it but like you said if we both do it together i'msure were get some discount.

are they any fiat performance places about.

becoming quite difficult at the moment just dont several searchs but no joy..

i dont want nothing too crazy but something between 200-250bhp and i'm well happy.

and your right on the lower revs getit past 4.5k and it starts to move lol
i just want to be thrown in the seat abit more.
ready for the nurburbring next year i hope
but i love the car its so fun at the moment

The car has a bit of a special way of accelerating. You cant just plant the pedal to the metal. I ease the acceleration to get over any torque steer and then a short sharp burst up to about 5-6k revs then when you change gear you should feel the engine pull the car forward.

I would like to see a power (BHP) graph of the Manual Abarth engine. That would be the best thing to start with but 200bhp should be easy. I have learnt that your not actually looking for massive Max power gains.
Many mods can put a squillion BHP at 7k revs but next to nothing and in the case of cone filter induction power losses at the rev range that you use on a daily basis.

This is the thread i was talking about.

thanks for the link that was a really good read. not sure i'm going to change the injectors. but its nice that it can be done if needed.

mmmmmmmmm what to do now thou.

Why not just enjoy your car? It's actually modded as standard more than many Stilos. The most important thing with modding is - knowing when to stop...

Because the Engine isnt outputing anything like what its potential is and its fun to mod a car if you can afford it.

The injectors are easy peasy to do and a must before you even consider adding any more power to the car.

I cant believe i forgot to mention the Dual Cat system on the exhaust. I have had the second cat removed so far with no problems with emissions FOR mot. I I also had the piping replaced all the way back and put a quad exit for more dispelling area. I noticed a marked improvement in throttle response.
I really want to decat the first one but there is a Lambda (i think its a lambda) post cat so i need to investigate on geting one of the sensors that you can build into a decat pipe.

Couldn't agree more Phil (y)

I can count on one hand the number of times I've really needed ALL the power available from my JTD and of course the Schumacher has more anyway. If it's a case of wanting to leave other cars behind then that can always be done most dramatically on the twisty stuff and I always thought the Schumacher was already geared for that.

What I find sad is you just know how all this is going to end :(

I totally Agree its not the case of being a so called BOY RACER trying to bolt as much rubbish to the car as possible.

like Volxstu said it's to get some true potential the Shumi's a 2.4l,and well to other car's out there its pritty under performing, I dont want to go mad and start putting stress on other components.
the only reason i was thinking about removing the head and doing what i was doing is that an new exhaust and a remaponly going to give 20bhp max i would of thought. And well whats the point

I want something not just as my daily driver but somethingmaybe for the weekend (track days ) etc.
and just abit different. Thats why i ended up buying the Shumi.
