As you may all ready know from my last post that i have only just brought my first fiat, but just want to see if its worth getting the 2.4 20v beast a remap as 170bhp out of this engine does not seem alot???

What do you think???
if so who the best people for the job???

To remap it you ideally will need to put more air in. I am very skeptical about cone induction on NA engines. Allong with a lot of other people who know about engines. With this in mind I would uprate the panel filter. I'm even considering opening up the induction area behind the grill.
Doing this and geting the right place to map should see about 200bhp if your lucky.
Then you should really change the injectors for alfa GTA ones as that kind of power is really pushing the standard ones to their limit.

mmmmmmmmm i would like to do it but seems like alot of bother.
do you think the car ok as it is.

drive the car over winter and enjoy it as it is while you get used to it. then in a few months time see about a remap. this will also give you time for other mods such as air intake/panel filter and other minor mods that all help improve the breathing of the car. if a 30hp increase is realistic which it appears to be that is a fantastic increase in power on an n/a car but do research what works from other peoples threads.

i take it that the schumi gp engine is identical to an abarth's.

Why bother 170bhp is quite adequate for a stilo
your only on the verge of causing yourself more
trouble than it's worth. Bottom end is just about
strong enough to cope already, adding extra bhp
is only going to put more stress on an already
problimatic engine. Let alone added clutch problems
and is it's a selespeed gearbox

its not a selespeed gearbox but i take all your point on board and leave it.
but going to look into it.
i just dont understand. its a 2.4 200bhp should cope.

anyway thanks for the advice. anywhere i can find info on the engine?

sorry to say this but do an advanced search on the forum. try abarth remap or 2.4 remap. also have a look at angel tuning, and red dot. Also, google car remap and look on there. i had an integra and changed exhaust manifold, exhaust decat, cat back system and remap. power went from 187hp to 211hp and you could tell the difference big time. 170hp to 200hp will be more noticeable.

I don't exactly see any eveidence of the schumacher bottom end being notirious fo giving up. I have seen a couple of threads in my Carreer on this forum but you'll get that with anything.
All I see is heresay tbh. I now run to go see my car blow up lol.

dont say that...well got the car booked in for the very next day of picking it up for the cambelt then off to my own garage to sevice it then a fiat one in six months?cant wait to drive it home. going to go the very long way

I tend to do my own servicing, they don't do anything special at any indi or main dealer. I was gonna get somebody to give me a hand giving mine a good seeing too but TBH I think i should be able to do it myself.
