I think there is something with the compression option you can do. I vaguely remember reading about it in my handbook.

Fiat Stilo Abarth 3dr. Loden Green, Beige Leather, Sky Window, Cold Climate Pack, 17" Alloys, CD Changer, 260w 8 Speaker Stereo.

thank you for your response, but i already try this option and i still have the same problem.

Do the tracks play ok but you get frequent clicks?

If so, it's because the MP£ player in the Stilo is very sensitive to clipping. I always thought my MP3's were well recorded and Winamp and every other player plays them fine.

Then I tried this program called MP3Gain (http://www.geocities.com/mp3gain/)

It showed that a lot of my MP3's were too loud and clipping. It can then normalize them without reencoding the file. It's pretty quick.

Give it a try and see if it solves your problem.

Thank you very much for your help, i've tried Mp3Gain and the problem is solved, now i can enjoy my mp3 cds on the car, the only problem that remains is the memory.

Cheers,

Glad to help.

Regarding the memory problem, please, please hassle your dealer and make sure they escalate the issue to Fiat UK. If enough people complain maybe something will get done in the next update.

I think that lots of people have complained here and on other forums, but I'm not sure that many have actually complained to the only people who can do anything about it.

My dealer has forwarded my list of bugs and wishlist features directly to the manufacturers (a company in Italy called Magneti-Marelli, or something like that).

Thanks for the mp3gain tip, if knew something in that area was wrong with it (either to loud of to soft, because the crackling sounds like the software was upping the gain itself en thereby crashing the sound).
Just wasn´t sure if mp3gain would do any re-encoding, i have about 80 mp3 cd´s, so i´ll guess i´ll maken some "best of" just for car-use. If it works that is ;)

Any-way, i´ve recently given a list of about 20-30 bugs/quirks that they have faxed to Fiat NL.
There´s not much hope that they in turn will fax it to Italy...

One funny remark: too many phone number in the adress-book are likely to overheat the CN+ - cpu because it´s continuosly scanning through them (and as a result it would disable the sound/cd-changer, after cold starting your car ). I would have thought that ridiculous, if it wasn´t for the same rumour about the Alfa 166 misbehaving for the same reason. (Anyway, couldn+t effect me, i have only 1 or 2 adresses in the system, the rest is on the sim)

Dear users I'm gad to say that fiat uk will never listen your troubles.

I had this problem with clipping mp3 since my first day.
Fortunately I wrote at least 10 times to Fiat Italy in Turin (I'm Italian). STILL NO RESPONSE.

..And if they didn't respond me (in italian) I think they will never do it with you..
Sorry, Lino

This game - I have run MP3gain across all my MP3 tracks and it has made a big difference. Even just the quality and the parity of the voume when listening from my PC has improved. All the CDs I now make for my car sound spot on.

It's just a shame that you had already made 80 CDs!!
