I've just bought a Stilo 1.6 16v, it's a great car but I think there's a problems with the throttle response.
Sometimes if I give the pedal the merest touch the revs shoot up to about 2,500rpm, but then they fall back really quickly and the throttle has to be pressed a long way before the engine starts to pick up - it feels like what would have been a 'flat spot' with a carburettor engine. It makes pulling away smoothly really tricky - sometimes the revs die and you creeping away or 'kangaroo', sometimes you can slip the clutch a little and pick up the throttle more smoothly. It just seems inconsistent and makes slow/start-stop driving tricky. I've only had it three days so am not overly familiar with it yet, but could anyone suggest a possible cause. I had a Lancia with a faulty throttle position sensor in the past but I understand the Stilo is 'fly by wire'.
Many thanks in anticipation, Neil.

search on here m8, about cleaing throttle body, i cleaned mine and it sorted my problems out.
