Hi , i hope maybe someone can help me here. Recently i have been having clicking noises whenever i pass over a rough road which comes from the passenger's side. I have taken it to the Fiat garage, their answer was that the rear suspension needed tightening, well, the noise remained there :( . I have checked practicaly everywhere but i couldn't find a clue to where the damn noise is coming from, no loose bolts or seats that where out of place, I couldn't find anything that was out of place.
Has anybody encountered a similar problem?
Thanks,
Ed.

i get a click when i go over speed bumps and rough ground but get it from both side of the car , i suspect it maybe coming from the door locks on my car but am not 100% sure.

I used to get a noise that i thought came from the passanger side but in the end it was the "boot cover"(i don't know what it's called, u know, the lid that separates the boot from the rest of car). Well, anyhow, i got it out and put it back in and the noise has stopped completely, i guess they just tend to get out of place and then bounce up and down on bumpy roads and speed bumps.
Hope this helps

I know this might sound silly, but is it anything in your glove box?! I getting a rattling from my speaker grill aswell, gets really anoying after a while! If youve had your chiller box out or glove box out to fit an aftermarket headunit; has it also been cliped n screwed, etc back into place properly?!

Have you actually sat in the car as a passanger whilst someone else blats around in the driver's seat?

BTW, I have driven an SJ413 on Maltese roads, around St Julians bay and beyond - great fun :D

Thanks for you replies, well i had to change the lid if my chiller box cos it got broken, i had just lifted it to take out a cd and it just snapped, but Fiat replaced it without any problems, i doubt the sound is coming from there, i drove with the lid open and closed and also empty from inside and still the sound seemed to be coming from the passenger side. It seems to be coming from the lock though. I had taken it to Fiat, one of he mechaninc's drove the car whilst i sat on the passenger's side. The sound he said seemed to come from the rear suspension which might have loosened due to the poor states of our roads. They were supposed to tighten the suspension but still the sound comes out from what seems to me from that damn lock! I suppose it is one of those mysterious sounds!

Ah, interesting thing about the chiller box - mine broke a few months ago, yet my dealership are refusing to replace it; they say the whole dashboard has to be removed?!?! Car under 3rd year warranty, though.

No! don't worry they aren't supposed to remove the whole dashboard but the process takes a few hours to do, this is due to the airbag sensors, but it isn't something which can't be done, so i don't see why they are refusing to replace the chiller box. I would still make them change it!

And their point is?

Car is under warranty and something has broken. They have to put up with the fact the dashboard would have to come out (if indeed it does, which being RHD as opposed to a Maltese car it might be configured differently). I'd kick-off if I were you (y)

Same configuration, i suppose as we are RHD too here. So i suppose that the dash must be slightly loosened. Mine was done with no problems, it was also under warranty, so i would do as JTDMonkey told you. :)

I think their point is that the car is now under 3rd year dealership warranty, therefore certain trim items are not covered - it is going in on Thursday morning for other items to be done [brake lights stuck on YET AGAIN, passanger airbag warning light still activating YET AGAIN, and a new n/s headlamp unit, leveller broken] - I will speak to service manager and see what his reaction is?!

I had this on the Punto. The computer kept on saying (computer says no...) it was a faulty de-activations switch which the dealer would then replace.

Eventually I went into 'kick-off' mode :bang: and told them it can't be that time and time again, and I wouldn't have the car back until they could resolve it and tell me what it was. Turned out there was a loose wire to the de-activation switch that needed a minor re-solder. Never been a problem (touch wood) for the last 2 years.

I'd claim it if I were you. I got them to do the expansion pipe for the fuel tank under warranty (the wheelarch had rubbed a nice big hole through it). First dealer (Lisles in Welwyn) said it was a pipe so not covered by 3rd year of warranty. DBS Desira in Hertford (a proper dealer) did it no questions asked (y)

Well, airbag warning only lights once a passenger is sat there, and only if they sit in a certain position - already had the seat 'weight' sensor replaced a few months back.
