General Genuine Fiat Parking Sensors

Yes I looking to install a full set. Has anyone got any idea of price and how to install? I'm guessing its already partly wired just need to plug the bits in?

If you have the up to date eper you will get a price for a sensor from that if not sit tight hang on to ya holy hocks and wait for Davren to come in cos he has..;) its a bumper off job for a start and you may find that if you remove the trim across the rear bumper the holes might just be there already..not sure what they are wired into or connected to tho but you will need the loom.. again no doubt decks will come in and show you one of his wiring diags..(y)

How much would a set of Genuine Fiat Parking Sensors cost and are they easy to install on a Multiwagon?

Best sit down for this.

1 x 46555998 Buzzer ..................£24.86
4 x 71718817 Mounting @ £7.32 = £29.28
1 x 51778167 Harness ...............£149.46
1 x 46782013 ECU ....................£162.56
4 x 51755060 Sensor @ £80.24 = £320.96

(Notice how I listed the prices in ascending order so as to build the shock up gradually) (y)

Comes to a very reasonable total of £687.12 incl VAT at 11/05/2010 prices.

Guess you're going to carry on looking out the back window then.

Is it possible to take them off a 2002 Stilo and fit them onto a 2005 Multiwagon?

What problems would I have with the 2002 Stilo afterwards?

Everything except the buzzer and ECU is different for saloon and MW versions. There are also some differences depending on year.

I suspect the donor car's Body Computer would not be happy without them and you could be greeted with beeps and/or a warning message every time you switch the ignition on.

If you wire them to the recipient car's existing wiring (if fitted) the BC is likely to reject them.

I read in a previous thread that the mounting holes are not already in the bumper (if the sensors aren't fitted as standard) but there are moulding marks on the back of the bumper where the holes should be.

I know you said genuine ones, but I also read in a previous thread that someone fitted an aftermarket kit from eBay and just wired the power supply to the reverse light switch. That would avoid the BC problem. I've seen kits on eBay for about £60 with a choice of ready coloured sensors.

I think you can get them to work using a delay circuit (to hide from the BC) but I don't think anyone has yet worked out a system to make your donor car happy. It would just buzz endlessly to remind you to get the bloody car fixed :p

As Davren suggests, sensible choice is either change car or fit after-market sensors (why not go the whole hog and fit a camera too (y))

Hmmm, after-market sensors, a camera. :chin: (y)

Could fit a tow-bar on the back, that usually works as a good reverse parking sensor.
Drive back until you hear the noise........... then go forwards an inch.

To install genuine parking sensors your ecu must have that option on it. If the car does not have them fitted on production at the factory the ecu will not have the option to add them. I was told this when one of my sensors failed and I wanted to turn the whole system off. The local Fiat dealer told me that was not a option as my ecu was set up for them on the cars production and cant be removed from the ecu. An ecu will not be cheap and your only option will be aftermarket ones hope this helps

My Parking sensor doesnt work, it looks like the previous owner has clipped the nearside bumper which has snapped the plastic infill in which the sensors sit, so then to bodge the repair has araldited the left sensor and infill in which has filled the senor up with glue!!!!

Looking at the price of the parts, im thinking of getting a standard infill and painting it grigio, but how or can you switch of the warning symbol and buzzer!!

I have fitted genuine rear sensors and the way around a flashing dash odometer is to power the reverse sensor ecu with a delay relay timed to fire up 2 seconds after ignition on. This way the ecu is powered all the time as it should be, an alternative (and inferior) way is to power the reverse sensor ecu from the reverse switch circuit, the problem with this is the ecu will do its self check every time you engage reverse and so will have a delay before it works correctly. Also if you dont fit a delay relay but go the other way if you inadvertantly have reverse engaged when switching the ignition on the odometer will flash as there is an extra ecu on the CAN lines which the body computer is not anticipating.

On my 5 door it is mounted a trailer hook, which works as an analogue parking sensor - as suggested earlier. The kit includes a microswitch for turning the parking sensors off. Now, I don't have parking sensors, but the way it gets the message is from the right rear cluster area. A small clip with two wires is already dangling inside the rear right boot area (OEM from FIAT), ready for attaching the trailer hook electrics.

I don't know if this is of any relevance, but it shure (ooops, a turntable cartridge / stylus) sure has something to do with reverse and parking sensors.
