Ok so a few months ago driving along country roads and the high beam stopped working. I was flicking the stalk about and it was coming and going before completely going.

I had a poke in the fuse box and accidently pulled the fuse for the dash, when I replaced it my high beam was suddenly working, when I went out later that night it wasn't.

I pulled the fuse for the dash again and had a good poke about in the fuse box to no avail.

Any ideas where I start?

Thanks
Johnny

Front and rear fog lights also dead as of tonight.

Is there a common part which could cause loss of control of all three?

Thanks,
Johnny

Sounds like poor contacts in column stalk unit
Does your headlight flash work?
If it does, do you get dashboard hi beam warning light?
When you select permanent hi beam do you get hi beam dashboard warning?

Thanks for the reply!

Dashboard warning lights comes on for front and rear fogs, flasher and locked on high beam but none of the lights external to the car actually come on.

Thanks,
Johnny

Well that's promising as it means the column switch is working (as that's an expensive item) and the signal is being sensed by the body computer

Hi beam circuit

Think I'd check for power arriving at the hi beam bulb fuses f14 or f15 on the under bonnet fuse panel when hi beam is selected and relay T2 should be clicking when hi beam is selected

Deff no click from relay T2, do you happen to know where I can get a replacement from?

:Offtopic: car died this morning and had to be towed to a garage. RAC guy checked ecu faults and had all four injectors and four coil packs showing amongst others along with the fuel pump not working.

If my ecu has gone imma cry...

So yeah, will check out the lights when I get the car back and update :)

Here's to hoping...

Thanks again,
Johnny

A lot of the relays on that panel are the same so I would just swop over and see if it's the relay or the power and earth causing the problem

Got the car back tonight and all is well, in even better news I swapped relay T05 for T02 and hey presto, high beam. Where would I be able to order a replacement from? Also I don't suppose there would be a fitting relay from something non essential that I could temporarily swap?

Thanks,
Johnny

Am I right in saying T05 is for aircon? The relays are of the same type so could I get away with just swapping them and having no aircon? (aircon doesn't work anyway, was showing a fault on the diagnostic machine when the RAC guy plugged it in yesterday but thats another story)

Thanks,
Johnny

Well since the aircon doesn't work anyway I'll keep that in the favorites list for now.

Another little job sorted, thanks for explaining guys!

Old thread but solved another issue for me where the relay T2 is faulty and swopped for T5 and yeh works.

Now a new relay.

Thanks all.
