Hi.

I Purchased my stilo a couple of weeks ago and have a strange problem with it. I didnt notice at the time i purchased the car.

The controls on the drivers side door for window and mirrors control the wrong side. The left hand controls and mirror selector should control the passenger side and visa versa, but this is not the case.

I was wondering if the unit that controls the whole thing could have been replaced with one from a LHD car.

I just wanted to check before shelling out some money on the car.

Thankos in advance.

The unit is the same whether its LHD or RHD. You need to press the selector first into the direction of the mirror you want to control, and then press the directional pad.

Does it swap mirrors when you press the selector button?

If you've already done that and they are still wrong, it may be worth looking it out at the dealers as there may be a short circuit in the selector, which is the linear button right underneath the circular button that controls the movement of the mirrors.

the window controls do have a habit of getting wet, dont know if yours has, but it may well be an internal short, caused by the water...

Yes I know you have to select each side to operate that mirror but when you press the selector left it's controls the right mirror and visa versa. This is the same with the windows.

There doesn't appearcto be any signs of a leak or corrosion.

I don't think it's a short as both window and mirror controls work fine, just for the wrong door.

There was a thread with a similar problem a while ago but I can't find it. You may want to try the search function yourself.

As RobCon says, water getting into the switch could cause the problem. As I remember, on the previous thread, the OP removed the switch panel and dismantled the switches to find corrosion on the contacts inside.

It's easy to get the switch panel out, so it could be worth a try.

My Mrs has a stilo too so ill try her control unit in my car to see if that works and vise versa.

The door pannel does look like it has been off which made me think that it a control pannel or door control unit had been replaced with a LHD one then it would have caused the swap around to happen...

Will keep investigating. !!

Yeah i did mean to just change the switch pannel and not the control unit..

:)

Right i have just tried my girlfriends working switch pannel and it does the same thing. i have tried mt switch pannel in her car and everything works fine.

I am now wondering if it is the Door control unit or something more serious.

HELP ¬

Your body computer is confused as to which door node is doing the commands. Try disconnecting the battery for an hour or so and then see if the can messages start acting properly when you reconnect
