Hi folks

Firstly, sorry to start a new topic about this - from reading the forum, topics get repeated over and over, and I've probably not looked hard enough for one similar to this.

Anyway, I'm about to purchase a Stilo JTd 115 3 door, and I'm debating whether or not to get a sky window with it. They are ultimately cool, I'll grant you that, but I'm wondering if they're actually worth the extra £600.

I'd really appreciate it if anyone who currently has a sky window can help me with this. Part of me says yes, and part of me says no. My self-arguement is getting so fierce, I'm scared I may beat myself up ;):D

Cheers

If you asked me on a Saturday i'd say yessss.

LOL :D

Hmmm, wind noise was something I was thinking about. I've had experience with the classic driver's side window making a whistling sound, something many seem to have had. If they can't get one pane of glass and surrounding seal to not whistle, I was pondering how they get several interlocking panes of glass to not whistle!

Worth it if you don't use your air con and prefer the wind in your hair, also if you like the airiness of the glass above you. Not worth it if your tall, or you don't like folk staring in on you from above, also stuff like wind noise, and the possibility of leaks, and cost due to complexity.

I personally think they look pretty good, but it would freak me all the time that it might fail.

Thanks for the advice so far guys :)

Much as I expected I guess - very cool, but lots of problems that can *potentially* arise. I guess it'd be interesting to see, of all the stilo owners who have a sky window here, just how many have had problems.

So far, one owner, and no significant problem ;)

Cheers

I've love the sky window, It came with mine when bought second hand.

I've had the one problem with the blind not shutting fully but was just a faulty switch fixed under waranty. The dealer said this was the only problem he had ever seen with sky window.

There is a little wind noice at high speeds but as mentioned it stops with the blind closed.

I love my sky window, I leave the shutter open most of the time because i don't do too much motorway driving. The kids love it. I would not buy another stilo without one. Its sets off the leather interior perfectly.. What more can I say, it was well worth the extra to me.

Cheers again,

It seems the sky window is winning at the moment then ;)
I quite fancy the idea of a very light and airy motor to be honest.

Being, what's known in the trade as, a "storm chaser", I do put my cars through some serious punishment. By that, torrential rain and big hailstones are something my car sees on a regular basis. Not sure how well the sky window would cope under that.......

(p.s. If you see a green coloured glow beneath a very dark cloud, don't ever drive under it - else you'll end up with a hailstone dent which my current Stilo is proudly wearing ;))

That's what tempted me in the first place ;) :D

Snap!

Some ace videos on that site - in fact I think he mailed them to me even b4 they were uploaded.

Mine has been back though - the blind didnt full retract into the roof instead it just hung down obscuring the rear window - fixed under warrenty and now GREAT!

Roll on summer

an excellent piece of technology
extremely well built and superiorly designed in all 5 configurations
never had any problem with it!
I know lots of people with it, especially in Italy, and it is a masterpiece of technology, definitely go for it, it will change the shape of the car and the colours of the interiors would look very nice even with only the blind open as the glass is slightly tinted and acts as a light filter, excellent with leather interiors too (y) (y) (y) ...I would never have a Stilo without the Sly window!

go for it. Got my jtd last july with sky roof. you will always have it open posing weather permitting. Go for the two tone leather and 17" alloys and in your face colour (yellow).

Just to put my two peneth in...If I have another Stilo, then yes I would spec it with a Sky-Window....go for it.

The Sky Roof (or Blades so the book says..) is the reason I plumped with my one. Its fantastic, tho I may have a problem with the blind shutting completely  tho I see someone up says they had a similar problem, so maybe i'll visit my local Fiat Garage this weekend.. Anyways, I love it - I'd say go for it.

I got one for my Stilo even though it has climate control coz I love sunroofs.

I'd say definately get it.

I've had no problems with mine.
It even works at an (indicated) 120mph - but only in Germany or on a test track of course.

A distinctive sunroof, lovely designed and perfectly compatible with the unique Stilo design.
I particularly love the different positions available, from the front spoiler-up only position to the full open sky window, with nearly all roof space open into the sky above you, with the possibility of choosing several intermediate levels of opening. Very clever positioning of the blades when open which gives a unique shape to the car in this configuration.
Incredible low noise even with sunroof open at high speeds. I have tried other sunroofs in the past and this is extremely silent even when open: at very high speed (Germany or race tracks) with sky and the blind fully closed there is not difference with a Stilo without Sunroof unless you really want to hear something yourself; at lower speeds, even with the front blades all back open, the main spoiler 1st blade does an excellent job and the airflow is not going straight into the car, but towards the sky.
Even in winter, on a feezing day, I often open the front blade only and I fully retract the blind: the effect inside the car is simply magic. It is like having a transparent roof. Magic.
Probably it should be a "mandatory optional", especially on a sporty 3dr.
Lovely feature for a unique car.
I am tempted to buy another Stilo really (y) (y) :D
