New Gear knob

Has anyone replaced their gear knob with a different one. The reason i am asking is, that i need to know if the new one screws in, or does it fit on the stick by pushing it down.

My 3rd year warranty runs out soon, so i'm looking to minor mods. For example if the gearstick has no mechanism inside the mast, cut it shorter and stick a new gear knob on the end. And replace the gator to give it more of a sporty look!

Any thoughts or suggestions??

Cheers

Re: New Gear knob

From what I remember, this has been raised in the past and I believe the advice was that FIAT use a 'special tool' to remove it (no jokes about FIAT dealers and tools...).

I would have a look on the service CD but Stu has my copy at the minute...

I'm considering a replacement too as ours is starting to get a little tatty from the wife's rings.
