Having now rebuilt my 1.2 16V which I bought with a failed head gasket (and water pump!) I'm a bit concerned about the idle speed. When you start from cold it sits at about 800 rpm and seems nice and smooth, then when it starts to heat up it drops down to ~750rpm and seems a bit lumpy.

I took it for its MOT today as I bought it with none, and the emissions test gave a speed of just 730rpm. I've also noticed that when slowing down for junctions, etc as soon as I dip the clutch it drops right down to just 500rpm, but doesn't stall.

I searched this forum and read through the "Cleaning Your Inlet Control Valve" thread but it looks different to the 1.2 16v throttle housing. Can I also over-ride the throttle plate servo to try and clean the housing, or will this damage the servo? Is it worth revving it whilst spray in some carb cleaner?

Think my 1.4 does this.

Only happens when fuel restarts after slowing in gears (when injectors are shut-off to save fuel).

Fairly normal I'd have said, especially when things like A/C are on and when load is on the alternator etc.

I always push the butterfly in the throttle body back if that what your asking. There would be no point in reving to get to the grime as it may take the nozle in and will just stall anyway.

My 1.2 does this. My engine seems to be worryingly quiet and have had people jumping out on to the road, in front of my car because they didn't know I was there.
