Thanks for the link but the centre cap is quite a large bit of plastic for the blade alloys, I'm not just after a sticker to put over the blue fist logo...with i was it would be cheaper!

Even been to the scrap yards in teach tna

I think you miss understand me yellow!
I meant remove the cap from the wheel which covers the wheel nuts, I think you thought I meant the badge from the centre cap!

You can see loads of marks on the wheels, and the plastic is all chewed on the cap where the previous owners have removed them, I dont want to have the wheels re painted only to repeat the damage again!

Why don't you put a bit of cloth or something behind the screwdriver when you lever the cap off? If you use a small enough screwdriver you should be able to protect the alloy by putting something like that in between that and the screwdriver?...

(do you think I said 'screwdriver' enough then? lol)

Or even better maybe (though I haven't tried this - but I'm full of bright ideas?) get a really small allen and slot the small end of it underneath the cap and then pull towards you. Just make sure you have good grip or you'll fall flat on your arse :D

To be fair, unless you really hack at it you probably won't make a mark (or if you do it'll be so tiny) I'd be more worried about curbing damage when you mis-judge a curb ;)

Thanks all!

I think I might get a slotted screwdriver and modify the end in the vice, and put some empty card board boxes behind me to break the fall!!!!

You're right, I did misunderstand! Go to any VAG dealer and ask for a wheel nut cover removal tool. It's like a small pair of plastic pincers and is supplied in the tool kit in the spare wheel of every VW/Skoda/Audi fitted with alloys.

Will have a look for one in the boot of VWs in the scrappy next time I go then.
