I just thought i'd post a thread to describe the pure joy that you feel wheen you drive away your stilo from the showroom/garage. I couldn't believe the quality of car you get nowadays for your money. I had an old escort that I paid more for 4 years ago than I did for my stilo. I have the 1.6 and it feels superb and the kit you get nowadays is excellent; remote locking ; aircon ; abs ; ebd ; city driving etc.

Im interested in everyones first thoughts when they frist got behind the wheel.

glad you like it (y)

It was nice to get behind the wheel of the car the day i picked it up as i had been waiting to pick it up for a month  but then i was nervous driving it because it was so different. From the day i test drove it though i knew i loved it :D

It goes to show that people who slag off the stilo either haven't driven one or never even been inside one.I've only got a 1.6 active (base model + aircon) and the kit is impressive and is all i need.

Nice one reido2, and welcome to the forum!

I first saw and tried out my bro-in-laws 1.9. JTD some time ago, which prompted me to buy the Ulysse, lol [don't ask :p].

Then when my other car up for renewal, I set my heart on a Stilo Abarth - test drove it, and just fell in love with it. I think I paid a deposit, and picked it up next day - I was smiling all the way home, and still do now [although filling up with petrol as I left the garage was a bit embarrassing - should have read up on the selespeed box first].

First time I drove mine I ended up snaking across the road due to the steering being so light compared to my last older car. My mate is a Citroen mecanic and owner for years, he said I should 'not waste my money on a Fiat'. I took it to his the day I got it and he was suitably impressed with it ;)

I've had mine just over 2 years now, was and is my 1st car that i've owned. After a wait of close to um (june - november, damn the italian summer shut down) I finally got behind the wheel. Was pure joy. Had my driving cd's chosen ready to load the cd changer and it was great to drive it home, even getting stuck in traffic wasn't bad as i was fiddling with everything especially the sun roof which is the "dogs" in the summer.. anyway only faults i've had since is a snapped clutch and the usual airbag warnings desipte that i love it.

how? what did you do Stu?!

I can guess what Stu's gonna say.

Either the car wouldn't start, or he couldn't select a gear, or both! :)

Been there, done that (and I'd read the manual!)

Yep, got it in one!

I left the showroom, no problem. A mile down the road, a garage! Needed fuel - had already checked which side cap was on. Filled up, paid, got back into car! Key into ignition and..........nothing.........

I was gobsmacked, plus being beeped from behind.

How the hell did I know that the car was in gear, and wouldn't start unless foot on the brake pedal. Aargh - seems so obvious now, but ho hum, lol. I got back home and read the manual.

Ha & OMG. I had a similar problem when using a company car when visiting our company bankers. I took a practically new high range Saab, got it to the bank then had to leave it in the car park with the keys in the centre console while in there... how was I to know I had to engage a gear/say seven hell mary's/and sing two verses from a a Take That song before the damn keys wood come out the hole

lol i had the same problem with my old mans automatic saab the first time i drove that i didnt know you had to have the brake down to put it into gear, must have been sitting in it for about 20 minutes before i figured it out

The nice thing about the Stilo is that the Weyheh feeling lasts a long time. After 2 years I still enjoy driving the car. The feeling doesn't diminish even for your second one. I have just been informed by the local dealer that my new Abarth had no problems in it's predelivery check and will be ready to pick up after work tonight!! (I've been sweating since yesterday that they would find a problem and that I'd have to wait longer).
Pole blue with 2 tone leather. Can't wait to get it (2 hours to go)
