Hi

I have a 2004 (on a 54 plate) 1.4 5dr stilo, exhaust has failed at flexi joint.

As funds are limited I plan to cut off the flexi joint and replace with a clamp-on version from ebay Just like this.

Can anyone advise length and bore sizes?

Many thanks in advance

hate to say this mate, but i tried the same thing while i saved up for a SS exhaust system....but it was kack, i was forever repairing it...it never stayed on properly, and as soon as u give it some beans it just slides off and sound slike no exhaust, best bet is to find someone who will weld it for you, do all the cutting nd stuff urself so that all they have to do is weld it on...shouldnt cost to much...for me (i have a 1.8) it was 55mm ext diameter x 200mm long....good luck to you mate!

Not looking good, over £100 for supply and fit of a cheap no name centre section (to include flexi)

£250 for a cat back stainless,

Did you opt for welding of the flexi piece or just go for stainless?

thats a link to my thread with the same problem...in essence, i did the "quick fix" with a bit of exhaust putty, and clamps, then saved up and shelled out £280 for full ss from cat back...thats why i didnt get it welded, i just clamped it and saved cos i was going to get a full SS at some point...didnt see the sense in wasting £100...but if u have no intention of getting an ss system, then £100 aint bad and will probably be a permenant fix....main attraction to SS was lifetime garuntee and chioce of nice mufflers lol.....altho it took a bit of tweaking to keep it quiet (not a fan of the overly loud stuff, and didnt like the drone on motorways...but when u give it the beans it purrs :) )

Bit the bullet,

was loathed to hand over £180 for middle and back box only to have to do it again in a year or two.

Got myself a cat back stainless exhaust custom made and fitted at Longlife in Glenrothes for £270.

Permanent solution that will probably add value when selling.

Would add pics if I had the slightest clue how.
