Can anyone tell me where the 12v socket is in the boot of a Stilo?

Fiat Stilo Abarth 3dr. Loden Green, Beige Leather, Sky Window, Cold Climate Pack, 17" Alloys, CD Changer, 260w 8 Speaker Stereo. Anticipated Delivery Mid June (oooh it's July now and guess what?.....Still waiting!

Dunno, I can't find mine either. All the brochures mention it, but it doesn't seem to exist does it?

The is a hook just next to the light on the upper left side of the boot. It is in a round hole which looks like it is the same size as a cigarette lighter. Is that where it's supposed to be?

Was in a dealer today, Calendonia in Warrington this time (played ignorant and let the guy spout s**t at me, I knew so much more about Fiats that he did! :p) and had a look in a Dynamic 3dr they had. Saw the abovementioned hook and pulled it out only to find a hole. Tried pushing the thing back into its hole but that wasn't happening in the hurry. Closed the boot sharpish! ;)

I wonder if there is any Fiat employee in the UK who knows the features of the cars they sell? If I'm capable of more or less memorising the brochure after a few reads what's their excuse???

Anyway, looking forward to someone locating their socket!

It is indeed next to the boot light on the left hand side. It even says "12V supply" (or something similar) in white and its hidden under a plastic lip type thing. If you can't find that then I guess you haven't got one fitted. Is this just an Abarth feature?

My car was delivered late July 2002 (Wow! :O My car is nearly 12 months old, plus its started to remind me about its pending first service) so I guess sometime since then the socket went AWOL from the Stilo. Is it now an optional extra?

On taking delivery of my car the dealer mentioned something about approaching me after 18 months to see if I wanted to swap the car for a new one, but since Fiat has removed half the goodies I think I'll stick with what I've got!

I've had my 5 door dymanic now for 6 weeks and I noticed the 12v socket and puddle lights were missing even though they were mentioned on the new spec. I pointed this out to the dealer and she totally agreed with me. That threw me because I was ready for an argument. [:(!]

She contacted Fiat and they have now agreed to put them in. My car went in so they could check the wiring and now they have submitted a claim to Fiat and order the parts. I hope they have the parts before the factory shuts for the month!

I'll keep you informed of the progress. :)

WOOdward!!!! Am VERY interested to hear about Fiat agreeing to put them in for you because I suspect I might need to take that route when I get my car next week. Which Fiat dealer is it that you use? Long story short but ordered post spec change car from pre spec brochures as dealer had not yet received post spec change brochures so one way or another I WILL be getting a pre spec change car. RAH!

Barbarian: it was a standard feature on Dynamic upwards but with the Feb spec change Fiat did away with it.

Cheers guys!

Same here! If one dealer agrees to make changes like this, it makes it all the easier for others to persue the matter. It sets a precendent.

It is not an Abarth equipement only. I have the 80 active, bought it in June 02 and i have the 12V socket in the boot along with the lights on the doors.
So , in that sense Fiat must have removed these items sometime later.( along with several other as I have read in here)

Fiat Stilo 80 Active, no alloys, no power tuning, love the sky window though!

Is there n e way of installing one in any model in the boot? i.e. in a cinq? I've got a coolbox with a refrigerator lid which has a 12V plug - i'd like to be able to use it in this weather! ;)

Don't see why not. All you need is a 'Live' and 'Ground'. Lighter sockets are cheap too.

From all the posts there have been about this (and puddle lights and foot rests and other small items) on 'phase 2' Stilos, there does seem to have been a reduction in standard spec that may not have been noted in the brochures.

If you SPECIFICALLY asked the dealer about any of these items when you ordered the car, take the car back and get the dealer to retro-fit the items or get your money back. It's that easy (in the UK anyway thanks to the Sale of Goods Act) - Feel free to PM me for more details.

If you did not ask, I'm afraid the disclaimers on order forms and at the back of the brochures can get the dealer and Fiat out of fitting these extra items I'm afraid. Still worth talking to your dealer and Fiat about it (make sure you put it in writing too!) if you are particularly upset as they make some gesture anyway.

I don't know what the situation would be in Switzerland though. There probably is a similar consumer rights law but I do not know any details.
