I have a 3 door JTD. I need some extra space for a vacation coming up so decided I needed a roof rack and box.
I saw some Fiat roof bars on ebay, and being not very clued up on these things asked the seller if they were for the 3 or 5 door Stilo. He said they would fit any. Fair enough I thought, so I ordered them (they were brand new and boxed).

Anyway, turns out when they arrived today they are roof bars that attach to roof rails on the multiwagon. Doh!
Now in my mind you can't get a 3 door multiwagon (I may be wrong?) so he hasn't sold the item truthfully.

So as it stands I now have a very nice set of new Stilo roof bars that don't fit and am out of pocket. I'm really not sure whether to send them back with a loss to myself for postage both ways, try to argue the point with the seller that he didn't sell them as described or try to sell them on to recoup some of the money?

Any thoughts people?

I then asked him if these were for the 3 or 5 door Stilo to which he said -
"THESE ROOF BARS , NOT A ROOF RACK , ROOF BARS FIT ALL , TA"

I'm inclined to disagree.

They look like standard Fiat roof bars to me (they screw into the roof after opening a little plastic access panel that hinges open).

Since they're for a MultiWagon and not for a 3 door then you have every right to reject them since you were misled by his reply (of which eBay will have a copy). Had he NOT replied then you wouldn't be covered since the part # is correct

If you open a claim (with PayPal) then the only loss to you is the return carriage.

Hi Argonought - the reason we bought the bars was because we thought they were the ones that screwed into the fix points on the roof, however they don't. They are the ones that 'wrap' around the bars that run front to back on the multiwagon.

It's a real shame as the bars are really good quality and if they were right then would have been ideal.

We've emailed the seller explaining they only fit the multiwagon and have asked to return them.

Agree with Argo.... if he said the are suitable for 3 and 5 door cars and they are for a MW which is only available as a 5 door, he's misrepresented them.

Can't see clearly from the picture, but if they're MW bars there should be a clamp mechanism at the ends of each bar. The clamps and bars have a matching number or letter on each one so the clamps are assembled correctly around each of the MW's existing roof rails.

Yeah they are the definitely the ones with the clamps.
Damn it.

Like I said, I'm not very clued up on the whole roof bars / racks / rails department!
All I wanted was some bars to go into the fixpoints.

All he had to say was "These only fit the Multiwagon"

You've got a watertight case, I'd say, and under distance selling regulations are entitled to a full refund including the return postage. Paypal wont enforce that though - so I'd be happy just paying the return carriage (about £8 if you use parcel2go.com)

Quick update,
Seller got in touch yesterday. Very helpful. Is sending a courier to collect the bars and offering a full refund. I think he understood it was his mistake and is trying to keep his good feedback score!

Now got to try to source some correct bars/racks/rails whatever it is that fit's in the fixing points!!

You had the right idea but just need the 3 door version of the bars.

One nice feature is you can still open the sky-roof with the bars fitted

UPDATE -
Sent wrong bars back for full refund including delivery - result!

Ordered new bars to go into fixing points - fitted them this week and they actually don't look too bad. They whistle a bit but the Stilo use to whistle too! Oh and Argonought you were right - the roof can still open - double result!
