Glad you said silver - some of those other colours are a bit 'brave'

Be interested to see how you get on with them, nice idea if they work well.

lol... tell me about it! I'd only consider the black or the silver and the black looks like it visually reduces the diameter of the wheels while the silver looks to visually increase the size of the wheel... hence, defo going for the silver :D

Havent you got rim protection on your tyres Greg..I never buy tyres without that if I have alloys..you could have bought the Mrs an Ice Cream with the money you saved then on the alloy protectors..:yum:

Do the tyres really work that well?
When i first got my stilo the tyres had flanges on the walls but the rims were still scuffed to buggery.

I'm not sure I'll be honest. I got the brand new Conti SportContact2 tyres and the OZ ST alloys as a group deal for £300, so I didn't quibble too much about alloy protection :D

I found it does yes..and of course its always possible in your case that the previous set of tyres before the ones you have now didnt have the rim protection and thats why the alloys are scuffed/curbed..

rim protector tyres are to protect rim when tyre goes flat, not kerbing

Yeah so you said here..

Always found it works for us..June is not to clever when reversing into small spaces..and I have also give the tyres on the panda quite a wallop a few times and smiled to myself and said thank heaven for the rim protection..swings and roundabouts I suppose at the end of the day ..rather have it that not tho..:)

I know you use toyo so lets see what they say on it..scrol down to rim protection..

My dads on the beemer are definitely big enough to protect the rim from kirbing.

I am very interested to see what you think of those Gaitors though Greggers after having just paid £200 to have mine powder coated.

If these work well mate im going to get some black ones once i get my alloys powder coated black :)

Rim Protector
Alloy wheels are expensive items, so you don't want to damage them. Many Toyo high performance tyres have a protruding lip, a rim flange protector, at the point where the wheel rim and tyre meet. So if you happen to make a mistake (we're all human, after all), it's the tyre's rubber ridge, rather than your costly alloy wheel, that takes the knock.

i think that means that the rim protector does protect against kerb damage

they do look rather useful all the same, and if you get the silver ones they should make your wheels "look" an inch bigger

what i make of that statement is that they help to protect against kerb damage, it really depends on the make of the tyre and the thickness of the protector lip, i know Continental's have an oversized protector which is useful or i'd have put my focus st rims in sh*te a long time ago. nothing is really gonna 100% protect against kerb damage because of the corner weight of the vehicle and the forward or backward forces. but as they say every little helps
