Hey guys!

I've got a slight problem with my Stilo Abarth.
The Steering angle Sensor is broken.
Finding one is very hard here in Sweden due to the fact the Abarth was never sold here.
Question now: Is the steering angle sensor the same on any kind of Stilos?
I've got anti spinn on my car which is connected to this.
But is the sensor which comes in one big piece the same even if you have anti spinn or not?

Hope you understand what I mean ;)
really hope I get an answer!

many thanks

We have tried to recalibrating it..
but it only shows one angle about 160 degrees..
it should change whilst you turn the wheel..

so the question still is.. is it the same steering regardless if you have ASR/ESP antispinn on your car?

Another question has popped up.

Does anyone know if the Stilo Abarth had ASR & ESP as standard equip on every car that was made?

Found a scrapped car here.. the car is gone but the steering box servo is still here

ASR & ESP - standard fit on Stilo Abarth?

Have a thread aswell on here reg my broken Abarth.

I need to know if anyone can tell, is the ASR & ESP fitted as standard on all Stilo Abarths?
Mine has failed on my 03, hoever found a scrapped one.. which is an 02.
The Fiat nr on mine is 468 468 57
The one on the scrapped one is 468 267 24.
So the same item has a diff number.
Can anyone help with this? plzzz

many thanks

Re: ASR & ESP - standard fit on Stilo Abarth?

Threads now merged, better to keep it all together. (y)

Part number 46846857 does not exist in ePER, the Fiat parts catalogue.

Part number 46826724 is listed as an electric power steering shaft but there is no information on it.

Are there any other numbers? The numbers you've posted may be original manufacture numbers, e.g. Bosch, Magneti Marelli, TRW etc.

thanks Davren ;)
have got a slight stress about this.. so that's why I posted it in 2 places.

The other numbers on mine are these.

TRW/Supplier number 81815
B525
4238204203
S/n 42382

These are all of them on the box.

the question remains tho.. did all the Abarth have the ASR and ESP as standard?

I would think so, as the Abarth mainly came with full spec. But don't trust me. :D

But... I remember what seller told me here in Norway: The ESP comes bundled with the skyroof option.

And the cars he had in with the skyroof had ESP, and the Stilos without skyroof only had ASR. If it was true I don't know.

And remember that we have the steering wheel on the opposite side of the UK members, so the part numbers will not automatically be the same.

aha I see ;)

Well I've got both ASR and ESP but no skyroof ;)

don't understand why you wouldn't have one of the others? ;)

Part number 4238204203 is not recognised in ePER as anything.

ePER does not show different steering units for cars with and without ASR, ESP.

It lists 3 different part numbers for 3 door cars and 3 for 5 door cars. Each group of 3 numbers has been superceded down to one number, so it would appear that there is now one for all 3 door and a different one for all 5 door cars.

ok thanks Davren!
Mine is a 3door 2003 abarth.
The numbers that I posted was the numbers we found on the steering unit. as long as I know the Abarths that was sold all had the ASR & ESP as standard then I'm happy.

Can you check this chassinumbers on ePer aswell?
***************** is the scrapped one.
Can you see if this was a 3 door or a 5 door?

It doesn't matter whether it's an Abarth or not, the steering units are the same for all 3 door cars.

The VIN refers to a RHD 3 door Abarth, engine type 192A2.000 built in October 2001 with blue upholstery.

Original part number for the steering unit for this VIN was 71719533 superceded to 71731544 in August 2002 and superceded again to 71739893 in May 2006. So any of these part numbers should fit your car.

so.. still need the answer on the question: did all the Abarths have ASR & ESP as standard specs? ;) :D

I don't know whether a Abarths have it but if it's the steering unit you're replacing, does it matter? ASR and ESP is controlled by the ABS ECU, not the steering ECU.

Hey!
many thanks again.

sorry for being abit thick.. but with the numbers you posted on here.. 71719533/71731544 & 71739893 what does that mean?
Are these numbers on the steering or just in the computer?

They are the Fiat part numbers for the 3 door steering unit. The part number is not always printed on the unit.

If you were to order one from Fiat, the only one for all 3 door cars is now part number 71739893.
