Technical Heater/ventilation reset?

I wouldn't let Kwik Fit within a mile of my air con system. Find out your nearest Hella Air Con agent and use them. Very professional and have all the necessary trouble-shooting kit...

yeah i defo second that, get someone in who is professional in do aircon not a jack of all trades, ive had some big run ins with kwikfit and would never use them again (another story).
a aircon specialist will test your system before filling with gas to see if its leaking, last year my 1.6 (rip again) lost its gas i filled it only for it to go pretty quickly, if i had gone straight to the professional he would have detected a broken pipe and fixed it before filling the system. in fact even though his prices were very good (but £10 dearer to fill) i would have saved around £50 if i had gone to him first.
I personally wont touch aircon system- everything else on a car i will play with but the aircon is a big no no.
There are pleanty of mobile aircon specialist that will come to your home, get one out and it will save you the hassle of finding the problems, in my case the man didnt charge me until the job was complete, he had to wait a few days for the part to come in.

i am happy to follow the concensus of opinion: -
> a/c probs?
>go to an a/c pro.

The amount of time and money that could otherwise be squandered is incentive enough i guess.

Normally I'd avoid Kwik Fit for most of their work, but their AC service (and exhaust repair) is good. They use a machine that they just plug iunto the car so no expertise needed, it takes 45 mins, evacuates the system, then oils and fills based with refridgerent based on the needs of the car.

Also, if the machine can't lower the vent temperature by, they say 10% (but 10% of what?) then you pay nothing. Its good for purely diagnostic purposes.

If they report there is a leak, which their machine can assess then you can shuffle off to a reputable AC specialist knowing you have a leak, not a blocked filter, or dodgy flaps in the heater, or a wonky interior thermostat having paid nothing.

If they do manage to refill it and there isn;t a temp drop at the vents, then you can shuffle off to a reputable AC specialist or electrical engineer to get it looked at still no charge.

If the temp at the vents is lower, then you pay and your AC works better. If the AC then stops working with 2 months you get your money back.

Only time money stays with them or you pay at all is if it works!

Whats to lose?

My stilo likes it hot!

I've reset the heater system using the method outlined in this thread. Yesterday the sun came out, outsoor temperature went up to 22 degrees C as measured by car, and the heater decided to heat. No matter what setting, 16 degrees or Lo, it threw out warm air. No AC click in, nothing.

Later in the evening, now sun in, but temp showing 17 degreesC outside temp, I'm getting coolish outside temp air through the vents, AC pump clicking, but no really noticeable air conditioning.

I'm stumped. The heater reset reports all fine (Double 0 on display when complete)any ideas whats causing it to throw out warm/hot air when I want cool/cold?

Cheers

Andy

From eLEARN:

Climate Control Self Learn.

The AUTO and MONO buttons must be pressed simultaneously within 40 seconds of the ignition being turned to the ON position in order to activate this procedure. A few seconds later a figure will appear on the display (in place of the driver's side set temperature) which will count down to indicate the time remaining before the start of the procedure. At the same time (i.e. whilst the count down is taking place) the previous self-learning status is signalled on the passenger temperature setting:
  • '1' flashes if the previous self-learning procedure failed.
  • '0' indicates that the previous self-learning procedure was successful.
This procedure is not carried out if at least one of the above mentioned buttons is released whilst the figure on the left hand side is not zero (this is designed to check the outcome of the previous self-learning procedure).
Exiting the procedure zeroes the 40 second counting period from when the ignition is switched ON, to allow the procedure to be repeated without having to switch the ignition OFF.

There's also self diagnostics for the climate control but unfortunately, apart from engine speed, road speed, fan speed and gas pressure, there doesn't seem to be an accurate list of what the 72 different codes mean.

Start the engine.

1) Push the HRW button for 5 seconds. All the elements on the display will show up then disappear.
2) Push the HRW button again to go up the menu and the OFF button to go down the menu. The menu is from 00 to 99 as shown in the driver side temperature digits. The value is shown in the passenger side temperature digits.
3) To exit the menu, press the HRW button for 5 seconds then release.

Does this also work for the Fiat Idea or is there a seperate procedure ?

Canæt remember 100%, but try this:

Start the car and let it idle. It is impossible when driving - you won't get access.

Turn off the unit.

Press auto and mono and hold them.

There should be a countdown from 03 to 00 in the display. I think it was.

When you should let go of the buttons I can't remember, but it won't do any harm.

I can't find a mono button just the Auto

I can't find a mono button just the Auto

Hi, Welcome to the FF.

The MONO button is at the opposite side of the automatic climate control panel to the AUTO button.

If you don't have both the MONO and AUTO buttons, then you don't have automatic dual zone climate control.
