On Friday morning there was quite alot of frost and my driver door wouldn't open...and I'd parked so close to the car next to me I couldn't get to the passenger door..... so found myself climbing through the boot over and on to the back seat to open the door from the inside.

All well and good....then defrosted the car and walked past and closed the door so had to go through the boot again - good job I'm not that big!!

Does anyone else have this problem with their doors in thick frost or know of a solution to the driver door problem to stop it happening again - I might be wearing a skirt next time and don't want to give the neighbours that sort of shock!!

ive had ice over them, I dont think its a fault as such but a bit of something between the handle and the mount ( the gap thats there when it opens) wouldnt go a miss.

I have never had a car that has let me in when its cold, funnily enough this one does most times.

I went through the boot of my ibiza once to get in as the lock mechanism froze so couldnt even unlock either door. This was not good as i sprained my wrists.

Luckily it was one of those days I wasnt wearing a short skirt, being male!

This Friday was the first frost I had come up against whereby the rear door mechanism stuck - I could not close the door, and kept bouncing back at me. However, used the remote to lock and unlock and this seemed to keep door shut, BUT I wasn't able to reopen it.....

By time I got to work, it had all sorted itself.

Yep bit of spray grease will sort that out as you say,i'd also spray little bit of wd40 or similar on the door seals (armourall?) if its the door itself sticking when frozen to the seal.My cars does this (non fiat) & a little grease on the door seals stopped this problem, got me into trouble when the wife got grease over her clothes though

I have been having this problem for the last 2 years on my 52 reg Stilo,Fiat replaced the passanger door handle last year. This worked ok till 2 weeks ago,
I was advised to try wd40 but this didn't help, now the passanger door won't open and the drivers door just bounces open most of the time.I just tried Arnold Clark (Broxburn) to get it fixed, to be told that these parts are not covered in the 3rd year warranty.Phoned Fiat who have promised to get back to me later in the week. Will let you all know how I get on.

Westie.
