Hi everyone:),

Can anyone help with this would be much appreciated.

My Stilo needs the flexi downpipe replacing, does anyone know roughtly how much it will cost, is it an expensive job:confused: also is it still safe for me to drive the car until its fixed?

Iv been told loads of dif stuff so now im worrying and confused:bang:.

Thanks

should be ok to drive (if you can put up with the thunder) won't advise you to do it long term (i.e. wrong input from lambda sensors may cause the car to over fuel and will, long term, damage the catalyst..+legality is questionable as with blowing exhaust your emissions would be high) if you get the part.. some places will weld it in for about 80 squid.. no guarantee it'll hold though.. a replacement section of the exhaust would be advised by the dealer (or the place you've visited) and, personally.. if i could afford it that is, i’d go for the complete exhaust section

:)Thanks for replys lol i was expecting it to be a few hundred at least, and i agree at the min it does sound like a chav car gone wrong, i have had a few corsas/saxo's trying to race me and over take me although they dont get past my back bumper lol.

I will get it booked into garage as soon as i can:D

Thanks for the help!

TBF, when mine went, the stilo was still a new car and the rest of my pipe was still looking quite new... and it was a 1.2 and iirc it is a one piece exhaust so there is no mid section to replace.

Its aleast 2 sections (if not 3 iirc). Its the same as on the 1.4 as I had a 1.2 exhaust fitted as apparently the 1.4 don't exits in exhaust books

No! (well they maybe different) - but what I meant was that I think the hangers are different and the 1.4 (at least on our car) has a small mid box on the pipe, as compared to my 1.2 which was a straight pipe from the flexible.

My 1.4 has the straight pipe from flexi bit through to rear box. What age was yours? Mines a 2004.

Ours is a 1.4 (54 plate regd in Dec 04 but made a few months before I think) I can check the manuf date by the component labels on things like seats and electrics. Interesting this one ?

Mine was a Feb 04 Build I think, registered 31st March 04.

Mine goes from manifold to flexi bit, then from flexi bit its straight until it gets to near the rear axel, then curves to the N/S, past the axel and then theres the back box iirc.

Where was your mid box? I can't remember if there was a small one before the rear axel after its started to bend (could be getting confused with Panda Selecta that has 2 rear boxes).
