Technical JTD 1.9 - Lacking Power [vacuum leak?]

Technical JTD 1.9 - Lacking Power [vacuum leak?]

Just been out and put the two pipes together and the VGT actuator moves so that not the problem.

So i guess the overboost valve is number 1 prime suspect at the mo.

Oh and drying and cleaning that little filter hasnt made any difference either so will pick up my new overboost valve tomorrow and see.

What would happen if i ran it with the vgt at max boost, Blow up or not ???

Could someone explain if im wrong?

Right i reakon my boost valve is damaged or blocked, as my turbo is temperamental.

When this happens, (ie the turbo stops working), would this in turn cause either damage or other things, like the EGR valve?

I say this because i loss a hell of amount of fuel, with little distance, when the turbo fails.

So basically can the EGR valve cause a great loss of fuel if the boost valve goes?

Cheers, Craig

No wont cause any damage but as you know extreame lack of omphhhh. Fuel comsumption does go up but not a great deal.

As i say best thing is to get the fault code read and go from there. I would say unlikely to be egr but wouldnt hurt to take off and clean. Will let you know tomorrow if i solve my issues.

What the mileage and service history of your car.

Oh and check to see if your overboost valve is down somewhere near the bottom of the air box and if it is when you get your new one bolt it to the side of the battery box. If in doubt follow the small rubber pipe from the actuator to the valve to find it.

Cool nice one, going to do that for sure, cheers.

Mileage is 106,000, no service history at all.

Would the AA be able to read the car?

Got a boost valve coming tommo just in case it is that £64, VAT inculded

Well have new overboost valve and no difference, but the fault is still there. Will disconnecting the battery remove the code as i tried the 3 restart trick and nothing.

Have booked the car into huttons for weds next week but any ideas would be welcome at the mo.

Thanks.

I presume you've done the most basic check of unplugging the MAF (see post # 18)

If that doesn't help then block the EGR (same thread I think)

Don't understand the hissing though. Could be lost vacuum but you say the actuator works well when both VGT pipes are connected so that should cover that :chin:

Yeah will try unplugging the maf when i have put the battery back in, Have had a look at the maf and appears to be ok however will unplug it before putting back in the car.
Just seems strange that after cleaning the egr and within 5 miles the engine light comes on.
will it do you think clear the fault by disconnecting the battery??

Well it appears i was totally wrong, Never even thought about the maf and yep u guessed it......

As soon as i put it all back together i ran it and it was the same, unplugged the maf and bingo. So need to replace the maf instead now.

Still anyone need a brand new overboost valve give me a shout!!

No... that one's no good.

The Stilo JTD one has a 2 hole mounting flange on one end to bolt directly to the air filter housing.

There also appear to be some differences for 80, 115 and 140 bhp engines.

Na not big enough, I really do like the look and spec of the new Doblo Van. Lovely colours and 135bhp :D:D:D:D.

Would be far better than the transit connect i WAS thinking about!!

Just a quickie, when the maf is unplugged if its failed does the car then go into this limp mode after giving it some stick as just been out and was enjoying having some power when all of a sudden it lost its power again.

Im guessing so as when i came out of the shop it was almost back to normal but after some stick it lost its power, Just want conformation that happens.

Thanks Guys

That sounds about right although that's never happened to me when I've unplugged it (probably because I was more concerned with mpg).

It should run more or less the same at a constant 80 mph (plugged in or not) as I used that as a check on consumption.
