Hello everyone,

I just registered to the forum, please bear with me. I hope the forum is not strictly accessible to UK citizens, I am from Romania.
I am going to buy a new car these days. I've been reading a lot lately on the subject and decided to go for a Stilo from Fiat, since I like the options in the std equipment, the 3 year warranty and what I've read on this forum:)

I am a bit dissapointed with the local Fiat representative - 'the only authorized importer in Romania', although they have a big network of dealers all over the country, when I talked to the sales guy about getting a new car he told me that if I want a car with some colour they don't have in stock at the moment it will take around 3 months for the car to get here. He motivated that the Fiat factory in Italy is very busy and that's normal time to wait for a new car. I doubt that's true...

So, I am going for a car they have in stock - next week probably I will have my brand new Stilo.
Any last piece of advice?

Thanks.

Hi vivi and welcome to the forum - you made the right choice :)

3 months is not doubtful. I waited 11/12 weeks or so for the Ulysse to be built from scratch. .

What spec have you decided on?

I am going to buy a 1.4 MPI Active, only option I could get was the colour on it, which is listed as special metalised. I would've wanted some more options, like special tyres, phone kit, CD pack but I do not want to wait that much for it.

By the way, meant to say this is a WORLDWIDE FIAT forum, and we have users from all over the WORLD :)

Personally, I would wait that bit extra and get what I wanted, than to just make-do and regret it in a few months time.

Why the need for the rush?

Good to hear it's a worldwide forum. Probably there are more UK Fiat owners, because I was looking for some real consumption numberss on the forum and I only found mpg all around. Hard for me to convert those mpg to liters per 100km:)

I'm in a rush because I am a pedestrian atm, and it's quite a period of time.
I will get all I need later... maybe even better ones. For example, I recall reading here about some unwanted CD 'features' like restarting with track 1, noises etc. so I think better to get a mp3 player at a later time.

i know the thred ur on about, with the CD Player starting the CD back to track 1 when the car is turn off and on! You say about changing it for an mp3 player headunit i had the standard mp3 player/facia in the stilo and with the mp3 on this it didnt reset the CD back to the 1st track when the ignition was turn off and on again! But i have replaced it for an alpine mp3/CD player headunit, and this does the samething as the standard CD it reset the mp3 back to track 1, dosent matter if its a CD or mp3 disc; and its quite annoying the only reason for me changing from the standard facia/headunit, was because the sound quality was pants and it didnt have any rca outputs. So i would advise to go for the extra option of having the mp3 player from standard!

I do the same as Stuart said, get what you want eg. colour and options rather than have a a dealer be lazy and not look for the car & specs you want, in the long run you'll be happier that you got what you want and not what he wanted to sell you.

and dont believe your dealer as most of if not all fiat factorys have been on an extended christmas break as they are suffering overproduction vs demand.

and Welcome to the forum Vivi :)
