I know diesel cars heaters are not so good, but my cars taking around 6 miles driving at about 45 mph at 3 degrees C to blow hot air, and about 8 miles to reach a normal mid range gauge temperature, are yours ? Also there seems no way of getting both cool air on ones face and warm air on ones feet, no matter what setting I seem to use, handbook says it should be possible with lower and face vent buttons pressed ? On a long trip I often end up opening the window. Any suggestions ?

Sorry, Every diesel powered car, van, digger, tractor, Lorry i have driven/operated have had great heaters. Could be your pollen filter maybe??
My mw is warm within 5 miles maybe less but i do give it a bit of stick after about 5mins of gentle driving.
Cant help with your cold/hot air as i only have manual but i just ajust the temp to suit and leave it as is.

could be the thermostat on its way out? If the engine is struggling to get up to temperature it is not good for it. Having said that, 6 miles isnt too bad to get up to operating temp

My MW dual zone climate control kicks in after about 1.5 miles - even in the very cold weather over the last couple of months. When the ambient temp is below around 12C the hot air is always directed to the feet, however there's always cool air blowing on the screen and from the side vents to demist the windows. Youi can over-ride the fully-auto by hitting any of the directional vent switches. The air from the face vents is always blended "cooler" than the footwell air. My only criticism of this system is the lack of AQS below 3C, exactly when you need it most for a quick warm up and keeping the fumes out when stuck in traffic- have to switch over to "auto"!
