Tuning need help on a JTD dump valve

well i am going to mount the intercooler in the bottom bit of the bumper where the botton grill is. i am not sure hoe its going to be done but the person who does all the work on my car said that it would be really easy and only a half hour job. plus i am aware from someone i have just emailed that i would need a new clutch as mine is starting to slip as there is too much power on the wheels.

so as a clutch would black diamond be any good.

and just as you all know, i am not doing the stupid dump valve idea haha realised that it was a **** idea and that i would loose preasure = power.

Hilarious, Haven't laughed so much at utter tosh in my life, Ur spelling needs work 2 u know lol.

better mechanic needed!!!!!

But if you really want to spend all that money unneccessarily, I'm sure I could accomodate it :)

To be honest I'd be deeply impressed if anyone managed to get the bumper off, remove the old intercooler and pipework, fabricate mounts and fit a new intercooler, fit new pipework, test the installation and then re-assemble the bumper in half an hour. Wow, I mean if they manage that I've clearly been going to the wrong mechanics for the last 20+ years ;)

At least the dump valve idea is out the window

With all that torque which the engine must be producing, and presumably more coming when you go for more power etc, then an uprated clutch would be a wise move. I didn't know Black Diamond listed one for the Stilo (there's probably one that would fit somewhere in the range) but if I were you I'd consider a ceramic paddle clutch as clearly the car is a fire breather. Paddle clutches can be a bit tempremental in traffic, but effective on engines producing plenty of grunt.

Talking of grunt, it would be very interesting to see the figures you get if you record the figures for 40-80 etc as Argo suggested earlier in the thread. That'll give us all an indication (if the figures are accurate) of just how much grunt the car has (y)

And just where was it chipped/mapped etc  I'm intrigued and I'm sure everyone else who has flicked through this thread would like to know. I don't doubt 165 is entirely possible from a 115 engine (sure it's been done before) but would be interesting to see what you have fitted :D

ive tried to stay out of this as he's already taking a bit of a flaming,as stated above 200bhp can be got eventually with a lot of major mods!
i will direct you to alfa forum tuning section as there are a few hard core jtd tuners on there pushing the 8v jtd.
http://www.alfaowner.com/Forum/tuning-and-upgrades/
search for threads by
notfast, dusan ,js jtd ,kgb as they are mostly uprated turbo, fmic, butterfly removal, exhaust etc related and have some good threads ongoing a few showing good pics for fmic installation on a 147 jtd 8v which looks very similar.
im running a jtd 16v 150bhp stilo with lightned singlemass flywheel, uprated clutch, Q2 diff ,fuel pressure only digital tuning box, k+n panel filter and water/methanol injection.i would still only estimate im around 180bhp as so far ive learnt that the vnt 1749v turbo is too small on the hot side and looks to be the big bottleneck.hope this helps
also have a look on here

and lastly do a proper bit of research, don't claim figures, and dont post on the sites linked above just read until its understood or you will probably get flamed like this thread.

cheers Chrisssss:slayer::slayer:

this isnt msn or myspace..... you only need to have one s (unless theres ssss on your birth certificate)....

well its not standard under the bonet u ass. you know 115 bhp standard, so i must have done something to id to make it 165bhp
well its fast for a diesel, and will be going up to about 200 bhp ish soon with one mod.

haha.... i think theres a lot of people on here who know more of what there talking about :p..... but can it go round corners and stop easily?:D

well its easy enough after you have a look on the net, well i put a chip on it. not a normal chip its a well wierd one. and changed the fuel consumpion on it. then added a magnet to the fuel filter, sounds rfeally easy and it is.
that made it to 165 bhp
now with a bit of tweeking and a bigger intercooler in the middle of the bumper then it should be really close to 200 ish.
and i still have a standard air filter on it.

plus i **** all over these boy racers and there saxos and 1.8 focus, 1.8 sri astra.

so there we are. a standard car with tints but a few things done under the hood.

my car sstandard... with nothing done to it at all..... but mine will **** all over boy racers ;)

well its not hard work and it is really possible. i have spend abit of money to do it but it has been worth it. it is on 165 bhp at the moment. and it is fast for a diesle .
even faster than them audi a3 sports diesel. not kidding now.
i will try and get a the ecu hooked up on my laptop so i can copy the reading for u gues.

have you rr'd it to see thats the exact figure?

and are you sure your not talking about the old 1.9tdi 110 sports models ;)

wow, facepalmed alot here.
if adding almost 50% more power with so little mods... i think everyone would do it. also, can someone explain how a magnet of the fuel line can improve power at all.... other than if you for some reason have a lot of metal debris in your fuel tank.

You have to laugh really.....all this from a guy who wanted to put H7 style bulbs into a factory fitted xenon headlamp unit lol. What is he doing to my poor old car :)

this is one of the more interesting threads on here

.... anyway ive been looking into remaps and tunning boxes recently and i came across this dino graph from celtic tunning;

Stilo 115 Dino.jpg

it doesn't say anywhere what, if any mods it has bar the map.

wouldn't this be pushing the engine at its limits if all else is standard? still it would be awesome to have

no thats well within the limits of the engine, its about the max you can get from the 115 engine, but thats not the engine that limits it its more the turbo limit iirc as its the same base engine as mine (running 175bhp and the GP 130 mjet that can get 190bhp from just a map)
