my boyfiend pulled in to topup windscreen water and opened the bonnet with engine running. When he closed it, a warning sign and light came on for low brake failure, windscreen wipers wouldn't work, bulb failure came up and finally in car heating knobs wouldn't work.

Can anyone help?

Was it raining heavily at the time?

If so, maybe water has got into the ECU or some other unwelcome place.

If it wasnt raining an easy check is the battery voltage, a low battery can easily throw up erroneous alarms.

That'll be your earth point C10 having a poor contact as this is the earth point for all of those systems

It's to the rear of the headlight on driver's side but is easier viewed from underneath the car. Take it off and clean up the contact area and it may well bring all those systems back to life again

thanks guys -its driving perfect and there was a light flurry of snow started at the time but bonnet wasn't open more than a min.
