Hi, I'm new here. I own a 2002 3 door 1.8 petrol Stilo with a power steering problem. My mechanic said that I need to replace complete steering column. Fiat quoted me £660 for a that part. So to avoid high costs I decide to find some used one. Fiat part number is: 46826724 and I know there are some replacements, eg. 71731544, 71739893. I have find one with part number: 51723101. The problem is that I can't find this part in ePer to check it's suitable for me or not. I only know that part coming from 2005 3 door stilo, so the question to you: is this part good for me or I need to looking for another one?
I'm sorry for my english, but this is not my native language

i know there is a difference regarding the steering angle sensor being built in the steering column or in the part with the stalks behind the steering wheel (can't remember the proper name for it...).
My guess is to look for a steering column of the same year as your old one - it has to be unlocked by the Examiner tester to learn the proper configuration from your bodycomputer.
There is even a note on it 3- or 5 doors but i can't imagine the colums are really different...
Fiat tends to change part numbers quite often, i think several of them will work in your car after configuration learning.
Good luck,
yellowstilo

There could possibly be another way out.. there was a recall done on 1.8 and 2.4.. if your car's of the right age (look it up on the AA recalls page) then fiat would foot the bill (i.e. i had the complete column replaced free.. if that is the case.. then at the very least i.e. if they don’t replace the P/S as well, you would only pay for the part)

i could be wrong (not the first time) but the "fix" did not fix the problem.. fiat paid for the whole thing (as they drilled something to attemp the "fix")
