Technical Skyroof Stuck open please help!

I suspect you know more about the sunroof than anyone on here by now.

I've never dismantled one, is the spring like a traditional clock spring? if so, you would need to fully unwind the spring then attach the blind and let the spring pull it back in. Similar to the retracting rear load cover in my MW.

Dave.

It needs its maximum tension when the blind is fully closed so it pulls as the motor retracts the front. I only thought to have it pull open and rolled up and then roll it back a couple of times then wind it back on hence pretentioning the spring but thats far too awkward and has already wasted 2 hours :(

I'll have to try again at the weekend. Once i get the blind on its another 30 mins putting the headlining and fittings back then i have her back together and ready to go :)

Yes and no. The glass panels opened a treat the other day with the motor and the blind closed all perfect. But the blind doesn't work when retracting since the spring didn't have enough tension on it so it gathered.
Is the switch pointing to the left the glass panels closed and turn clockwise to open?

hi all :)

I have the exact same problem with the sun blind! The spring isn't pulling it in! I don't thing its even attached to the blind!

Have you got any news on how to fix it? I've read about giving strength to the spring by rolling it...

thanks!

i have the problem of a broken runner if it was a cable it would have been easy to use the one mercedes a class has (webasto). :( i dont know what to do i am not gonna buy a new frame i refuse to give so much money. anyone have any parts left from anything?

Yes you need to preload the blind. Disconnect the blind from the runner and then turn it to preload it and reattach it. Let me know if you're still having problems. It took me ages to figure out the best way of doing it!!

Hi guys,

I have bought stilo 2005 with sunroof...
Unfortunately front motor is missing :(

I've found second-hand roof, it contains all spare parts including rear motor - but not the front one :)
I tried to find spare parts - but only one which is available costs around 500E (Fiat Auto Poland)..
I read all threads dedicated for this roof, and only information which I collected are:

- front and rear motor are the same,
- the only difference is that master unit (front) has 12 pins in plug instead of 6 in slave unit (rear)
- printed-circuit boards for master and slave are made by HELBAKO (Germany) and board number is 702095701 B (master - slave doesn't have any signs),

I hope this information will be useful for someone..

If anyone has front unit and would like to sell it - please contact with me.

EDIT

It's a miracle.. 2 hours after I wrote that post I've bought it!! :) 40E...
So - now I have second sunroof with rear motor - if someone need spares..

Hi
I am new to FF :) I have an issue with my Stilo's sunroof!

This weekend i was on the M25 with the sun roof open, i closed it whilst i was going through an area where there was alot of smoke and then when i re-opened it, it opened a little, made a clunk and then would not close, it sounded like it wanted to close but it was almost like something was getting in the way when it got half way down. (my own stupid fault as i now remember reading the you should not open it when you are going over a certain speed - what an idiot! hindsight is very anoying!!)

as I park in on the street and I had no idea how to fix it i took it to the garage. I was told that the motor wasnt turning properly and i would need to replace it (Motor would cost £250), but it might not work. If replacing the motor didnt work then i would told that i would need to replace the entire sunroof for which i was quoted by Fiat £2500 (n) - my car is only worth £1700 so that is not an option.

looking at some of the feeds a few people have had similar problems as well, please could someone give me some advise as I am thinking of getting a motor off ebay - but I have no idea what i am looking for.

Do you think i would be worth getting a Fiat Garage to look at it?

I really love my car and i would really like to get the roof working again. The Garage has managed to close the roof manually and has now disconnected the motor for the moment as they said it was really hot from trying to shut itself. its such a shame.

Please help - I have no idea about cars so please excuse my lack of knowledge.

Sounds like your roof needs a clean and lubrication which would allow for easier movement and put less strain on the motor. If its closed manually ok then hopefully the mechanism is sound. Fortunately you don't need a whole new unit, you can just replace the motor in the unit (not the circuit board as well) if it is indeed ruined although i suspect a clean clubrication and reset will do it.
If you try manually winding it and it works fine then get it open a bit and clean everything you can. Then get hold of some white litium grease or 3 in 1 grease (meant for areas water gets in). Then you'll be back up and running i hope. Anyway let me know if i can help anymore.

Fiat will not help you by the way, they'll only get you a whole new roof, and will tell you any problems are down to Webasto.

Need A New Stilo Panoramic Sunroof Frame or Full Sunroof Required Please Help?

Dear Stilo Forum

Hi it has been a while since I been on hear and actually put a post up but I have just been busy buying tuning parts for my lovely beloved stilo as in 2 weeks it is going to be tuned and changed but I have run in to a big problem last week I opened the sunroof the 1st glass opened half and made a crunching noise so I stopped it and came home I held the button in the rested position and it closed the sunroof but when it tried to open it would crunch each time and not open I do service the sunroof every 6 months and I have had no problems with it took it down to the garage to see if they can get to bottom of the problem but they told me they where to busy to deal with things like that typical garage attitude so yesterday I took all the plastic trim off from the front to have a look what the problem is and the screw type cable which moves the sunroof back and forth has been forced out on the driver side it was all still intact no bends or any thing so I slowly pushed it back in but the black tube which connects to the gold tube has split open from one side and it is forcing the cable out again when you try and wind it I don’t want to break my stilo or sell it as I love it so much it hurts to see it like this so I phoned a fiat dealer to ask how much the sunroof frame is and was told £1,400 + VAT what I have had a look on eBay to see if any one has a sunroof or breaking and cant seem to see any I would be so great full if someone could help me on hear if they are breaking a stilo with a panoramic sunroof or someone has one that is not working or spares and could sell me it as I want to complete my car and take it to santerpod to show what can be achieved with a stilo giving a BPU OEM style.:(

And I have a question for any one who can answerer it I no you have to take the plastic trim off all but how do you get the roof lining out do you have to take the side airbags of where the seat belt is or can it be taken out with out taking them out.

Please help as I don’t want to give my baby away....

Hi people i need your help please i have sourced out a second hand sunroof and bought it for £100 will be using mine as spears when i take it out need your help please i am taking the headlining out all the side trim and screws are taken off but how do the side air bags come off that also contain the seatbelt is it held in by screws or just clips please help as i am wanting to install the new roof 2morrow would be greatfull or can the lining be taken out with the side airbags still in.

Thanks Sham

The headlining just tucks behind the pillars. Best to leave the blind on you'll need it fully closed to do so since there are holes for bolts at the end. You'll need two people it is heavy!! Where did you get your sh roof from? Is it fully functional? I bought a sh one from a breakers but repaired mine instead so its just sitting in the garage! What was wrong with yours?

Hi m8 many thanks for replying to me means alot oh kk problem with blind it is half shut not all i dont think it will close all i might need to take it off the thing to get at the screws at the back. It has on ebay fitted to a multiwagon i had it remove off that and bought quick as they are like gold dust yes the guy i bought it off had it open and fully functional. The screw like cable from the drivers side has been forced out of the brass tube it is in and the plate which is screwed on the top of the roof which holds the brass plate is bent upwards i have put the screw cable back in but it needs a new plate dont no whethere the cable is stuck or broken dont no if it comes as one peace connected or seprate both ends, rather than replace this will just put the other roof in.
