Hi and thanks for this thread , got my cable today and got it working first try :)
Found faults and deleted them.
Tryed to update the service light but wouldnt let me connect .. any ideas why ?
I have got a vagcom 409.1 (i think LOL)
I really wana sort this switch out so i can do more but am worried i might brake something lol. Might just get the cable mentioned a few posts back with switch built in but i go to the egypt tomorow night so i thought id wait till i return.
I have seen alot about "proxy alinment" . couldnt any one tell what this is please?
Thanks again guys and great thread :)

Proxy Alignment is a procedure whereby the car's body computer learns of, and is therfore able to communicate with, all the other ECUs (known as NODES) fitted to the car. If ever you add, remove or alter a NODE, the Proxy Alignment procedure will need to be repeated.

ok, any chance you or any one else can point me in the right direction of the lead i need please?

anyone tested the function in the body computer - automatic headlights switch on?
is this only for cars with light sensors and rain ?
or all cars - the lights to be switch on , after engine starts

For those that don't have the sensors it just adds the light lux adjustment level to the dash menu. A bit pointless IMO.

Not sure if the sensors can be retro fitted or not at all though.

Hi.

Can anyone give me a list of things I need to get FES working 100%. I have had it connected a few times, but I cant get in to every section of the car.

Can anyone give me tips on what I need extra to get this to work.

The second one down says it plugs into a blackberry? do you need to download an app for that?
It also only lists a Fiat Tipo, as a 2003 model my JTD is prior to the obd11 cutoff date of 2004 for diesels, would this work for me
Oh and my Blackberry is a curve 9300 I think:confused:

Or should I get a netbook or laptop - its a long way to my garage from the computor in our spare room(n)

The listing states:
Supported Cell Phones:
* BlackBerry
The AutoMobile OBD II diagnostic software will work on all BlackBerry smartphones

Here's the software its refering to.

I have the third one down on the list(bluetooth), I also have the software above installed on an old Nokia N8 but I haven't got around to trying it yet, I'll let you know as soon as I do.

Cheers for that Shadey, I have a fault code reader, very similar too, or the same as the last one on the list, which works on Her Picasso, but not on my Stilo...
It'd be nice to be able to delve a little deeper into things.

Anyone looking for a VAG.com cable give this a try, already has a microswitch fitted ready for use with FiatECUScan ... £24

Hello everyone,

quick question, I got this cable that Shadey recommended.
It has a 4-way switch to switch between ECUs.

I think I messed up a bit, does it support CAN? and if not what ELM cable should I get? not looking for smth too expensive.

Cheers,
Andy

LE: Will having an ELM and VAGCOM cable be useful? As I see from the FES supported vehicle list is that most operations for my stilo 1.6 16v require either one or another.
LLE: Found this cable, will it do the job? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/170696720167?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

Hello Andy

I have that VAG lead, works really well. What problems are you having with it?

Yes you will need VAG and ELM to be able to connect to all your cars ECU's.

well just wasn't sure if the VAG lead supported CAN. but after all I see, it doesn't. I will need to do a proxy alignment as I am installing a new abarth instrument cluster.

I got both of the leads now, just waiting for the ELM to get delivered and will try. My car just died now (20 mins ago) actually, probably too much moist in the atmosphere, I'm going to halfords to get a spark plug socket and check them as I haven't changed them in a while. The battery looks fine as the engine turns but doesn't seem to be a spark in it.

Cheer for the info,
Andy

It deffinately supports CAN or I wouldn't be able to use it on our Stilo. I'm pretty sure it uses the CAN system to access the engine, ABS ECU's.

It won't connect to the body computer to do proxi-alignment if that's what your trying to do, you need an ELM lead for that.

It will only connect to the ECU's in the listing, the Body Computer(proxi-alignment) isn't one of them.

Edit.
If your near Wolverhampton your welcome to use my leads.
