ok I installed a new dvd player in my stilo player but could not find any ignition wire in the iso harness and so rerouted it by putting both ignition and 12v wire together.

turns out its draining the battery from being constantly on

anyone know the colour of the ignition wire in the iso harness or can tell me the easiest place near the din to find and ignition source?

thanks

theres a 12v ignition suply just behind the key barrel on the steering column , i took mine from there for my dvd screen , so it only works now with the ignition on , im pretty sure thats it an orange cable , i used speaker wire to run a feed to my headunit . I had a link to a guide on stilosport , but doesnt work any more sorry .

It's the orange wire under the steering wheel.

Remove the undertray from the steering column, 3 screws. Slide it out of the steering wheel adjuster lever. The orange wire is sending a switched 12V+ signal which can be used to power your ICE. Unplug the white connection block to get some working space. Pull a cable from the head unit's bay and down towards the pedals. Hook it up with some clips and trace it up to the orange wire. Connect it with a signal thief - I have no idea what it's called in English... Refit the undertray.

you can even do it without the signal thief thingy , just push ur wire into the junction box where the orange wire is and tape in place .

yeah but i also have a handsfree kit that i recently installed which also need a ignition supply or else battery drain :(

I ran a cable from the cigarette lighter - that's ignition-switched and can easily power a few electronic gadgets. It feeds my Parrot handsfree & satnav, with a spare 12v connection behind the glovebox for other auxiliary uses.

Morty, why the hell were you using a household radiator pliers in your car? ;)

Not directly a regular household tool, though it might look like that. ;)

It's an American tool, and doesn't bend a bit when torqued together. Best pliers I've ever had. German Knipex is nothing compared to them.

I think it's called "tongue & groove" plier. I remember the package said something like high carbon steel with electronic coating. Oooooh!

It has never ever slipped due to some very impressive design, which I have no idea of. But it works. :D

But back to the question, why it was there... It was to press some plugs around stripped wires when working on the stereo.
