Reference point for the rear - mine's lowered 30mm on the back with the Sportlines, but I don't have the weight of any ICE at all. Weight of the engine doesn't obviously come into it in terms of the different models of Stilo, so the drop should look the same across the range for that drop...

to yours...

...mine is also on 16" alloys.

Thanks for that. (y) Wouls everybody agree that mine looks like it has dropped about 10mm in comparison. Also i thought that the aftermarket springs were stiffer so the weight will make less difference and the weight of the engine did make a difference.

I'd agree yours has dropped with the weight of the ICE, 10mm seems fairly accurate as well.

The springs are definitely stiffer, can feel that in the way it rides the bumps. However, the firmer ride doesn't bother me too much, just a bit bouncier :p

In terms of the engine weight, it definitely comes into it as when you order the springs I believe it asks if you have a 1.2/1.4/1.6/1.8 or a JTD/2.4, the latter selection being the heavier engines (though I don't know what the KG difference actually is offhand). If Eibach themselves have different kits for different engines, then I'd deduce it's because of the weight as the dampers are the same no matter what model you get.

As I said though, the rear springs are the same across the range I believe.

Many of the cheaper lowering kits only come in 2 variants which accounts for many discrepancies in ride height.

Rather bizarrely, when mine was lowered, I found it performed very well when really heavily loaded (obviously only on good road surfaces). Seemed to stop it bouncing around so much :)

Threads like these still make me laugh - living with a lowered car, especially one you use daily, is a nightmare! I've done it once and would never do it again.

Final thing and I'll crawl back under my rock... the stilo has huge arches, anything less than an 18" just doesn't look right, 16" just exaggerate the arch especially if lowered. Muppet24's pic is a good example

18" on a 40mm lowered car, looks sooooooo much better :D

I agree 18s do look good on the Stilo. Definitely the largest alloys I'd put on for sure :)

Had the chance to get some Team Dynamics alloys in that size a couple of weeks back but decided against it as still got that money set aside for induction. Plus there was a chance they'd need at least one of the tyres replacing, which when talking about those size of tyres can be costly.

The obvious trade off in terms of alloy size and tyre profile is acceleration and ride comfort, but given I've got a 1.2, the first isn't of too much consideration and the ride comfort again doesn't bother me.

Did have it mentioned that putting those size alloys on my smaller engined car could cause issues with the drive shafts, which would worry me a bit to say the least. Last time I needed a drive shaft replaced the dealership had to take it off another car - apparently not a common part for the 1.2

So ive been reading through this thread guys and i to want to lower my stilo, Although i dont know which kit to get. I want to lower it 40mm i think. Could someone link me to the right kit by any chance? Eibach springs fo sho!

I have a 1.4 stiilo blue

coyle, whats the point in lowering the front more than the back? Wont it look odd? I want it even all around.

i think the back is a bit heavier than the froont, so it requires less drop than the front because you already have the weight weighing the back end down...if you know what i mean.

 Front HAS to be heavier... the engine & gearbag are up there!

I have 17" blades on my stilo. They should suffice until i put some 18's on sometime in the next few months.

if you mean the living with a lowered car is a nightmare.. i disagree, especially at only 30-40mm
I can only assume the 1.2/1.4 is quite different to the rest of the range then

It was pure joy to dump my lowering springs and get back to standard. Not only are you not seriously restricted on where you can drive, and how fast, but improved handling is a big bonus too - although admittedly I never upgraded the shocks like you have.

Really depends how much you prefer SHOW to GO I suppose :ROFLMAO:
