Not long had my 2004 stilo which is a wonderful car. Today I was putting little 18 month old in his car seat and he took the key. After locking and unlocking the doors a few times I managed to get the key away from him. Now this may or may not be connected to his activities but I am now unable to open the back doors! Even using just the key the front doors open but not the back - The door thing comes up to say they are unlocked but they are stuck fast so can't access the back at all. I have tried everything I can think of. It is as if they have kids locks inside and out!
I wonder if perhaps he could have put some sort of code in or maybe he is being blamed for something that isn't his fault.

Really would appreciate any help here. Many thanks,
Kelsea

Thank you so much for your suggestion. I am afraid I didn't have any luck. I have a feeling this is going to be expensive!!!

Any other suggestions would be very gratefully received.

Sounds like your youngster found a combination where the front doors were open and they hit the deadlocks on with the remote so it's deadlocked just the rear doors

Were you any good at Tomb Raider?:)

Try this

Put the key in the driver's door.

Turn it twice to the right then once to the left

Or do the opposite

Twice to the left and once to the right

I haven't got a 5 door so I can't try it out myself

I'd imagine he may have 'deadlocked' the car and the bolts have for some weird reason have frozen on the back doors only.

Best bet is probably to remove one of the connections to the battery, leave for 30 minutes, and then reconnect.

This often resolves weird issues on Stilos - a bit like restarting a MS Windows based PC does ;)

Thank you for your suggestions.

Just tried Deckchair 5 but it hasn't worked.

Will get my husband to try your suggestion Argonought. Fingers crossed!

Thank you again for trying to help me - guess who will be walking to nursery tomorrow?!

It’s the front passenger side door left, left, right with the key, possible the other way.

Hi - thanks for this. Regrettably it didn't work.

I'm getting very worried now! Thanks again.

Please, if anyone else has any ideas - i would be so grateful.

Many thanks,
Kelsea

Have a look in this thread for someone who experienced similar problems
https://www.fiatforum.com/stilo/119193-rear-doors-locked-wont-unlock.html

But as your rear door normal locks are locking and unlocking then your rear door deadlocks must have operated and are in the locked position which is a little different to the above thread

Are you pressing the unlock for at least a couple of seconds?

Are you turning the key in the door and holding for at least a couple of seconds in each position?

I don't use deadlocks because I hate the damned things so maybe others can help more

Yes, I have tried that but will have another go at all suggestions after I have walked to and back from nursery in the morning. Just too difficult trying to fight 'little man' into his seat through the front door!

Hi Kelsea
I agree with deckchair almost definitely deadlocks.
Just to make sure you are doing the key thing right, close all doors and hit the central locking, put the key in the passenger door turn it all the way left, return it to the normal position then all the way left again then all the way right.
Like everyone else I can’t remember if it’s the other way right, right, left, ah the joys of getting old!
I remember trying it several times before it worked.
Good Luck

I use the deadlocks constantly BUT its a 3 door...
It seems that the rear deadlocks got stuck (as mentioned above)

Dare to play with the double locking/unloking? And see what comes up. May be you'll unstuck them)

You didn't by, any chance, turned the "baby locka" on the rear doors haven't you? (if present of course)

As for the little man, try thowing him from the open window! :)
Just kidding... you own him an adventure!

Just to help:
In your drivers door (right hand door) is
left turn - lock
right turn - unlock

In the passengers door (if present) is
right - lock
left - unlock.

Double locking (quickly repeat ok? ) is deadlocked.
Single unlocking with the "drivers door idependance = off" from My Car unlocks all doors.

BUT

Single unlocking with the "drivers door idependance = on" from My Car unlocks just the drivers dorr.
Double unlockingwith the "drivers door idependance = on" from My Car unlocks the rest of the car.

Tried everything but taking battery off
worried radio won't work - does it have a code - not included in documents.
notes if you hold key in position will open or close front windows
when key worked the buttons pop up or down
kids lock not used - child too young

Standard radio will be fine, you'll just lose some personal settings that can easily be re input

notes if you hold key in position will open or close front windows
that's normal

when key worked the buttons pop up or down
so isn't that happening now? Can you enlarge

kids lock not used - child too young
just tie wrap their hands together until they're 18 :)

The rear door deadlocks are certainly on. It would be unusal but possible that they both jammed at the same time
