Howzit people.

I have a bit of a problem with my external antenna (Bee Sting type). I want to replace it as aerial broke off when i was reversing out of my garage. I did not open the roller door all the way!!!:bang: Now all thats left there is the connector piece(looks like one of those shark fin types). I cant find a way to get it off from the outside, do I need to unbolt it from the inside? Is it a hard job to do?

Any help/ pics on how to remove would be awsome.

Later, Later....

Hi, not sure if you received my first one. But here again, I had the same problem, short of stripping half the car down to get to the inside of the roof, I got a new bee-sting for R30 and just screw the top piece onto the old fitting. Working okay. See you also from Durban, give me a shout on [email protected] sometime.

Hi Gerhardj and welcome to the Fiat Forum.

This is an awsome site, really keeps you informed and helps you out with a lot of problems you may incounter with your car.

Thanks For the reply. That sounds like a plan, I hope that works cause even the threaded part of the antenna popped out so maybe I can make a plan with a new bee sting antenna. Will keep you informed on the progress

Glad to see there are more Stilo Drivers in good old Durb's. Was beginning to think that I was the only one(y)

Cheers...:slayer:

well it looks like a new bee sting won't fit(n) ( restricted by a square fitting on the outside of the threaded part) so I'm gonna have to machine the square part on the aerial down in order to get it to fit again.

If i machine it down so that its a neat fit into the external part (the one thats mounted on the roof) i can Q-bond it in so that it does not fall out. then screw the bee sting part back into place.

Sounds like this will work. (well better than removing the whole roof lining) If it does not, well no more 5fm for me:p

Gonna atempt it tomorrow at work (Thank goodness I work in an engineering company that got all the tools/machines I need to do this:slayer:

Wish me luck.....

Not yet, been so busy at work and only finishing late so could not be bothered right now. Will try tomorrow if I have time and will keep you updated.

Cheers

Sorteed:slayer: Machining the square part off and using a bit of Q-bond worked. The bonus part is that I can still unscrew the bee sting part if needed... Jared 1 - Antenna 0 :D

You go!! How's the reception, I found with mine that I would loose it while drive in certain areas in Durban. Sometimes even a different station will come up for like 2 seconds, and then go back to the original. Huh?

Ha Ha!! Ja, reception is as good as it gets. Still loose it every now and then when I'm driving aruond Durban but thats nothing new hey? I have not had it change stations on me yet ( would be funny if it did :D )

Hows your car treating you? Have any major problems with it? Have you done anything to make it stand out? Well,m not like you really need to. Most people have not seen Aa Stilo before and they keep thinking that its a golf  I always have to say that its not a golf, Its a FIAT. Always get a confused look from them as I'm sure as you know Stilo's are very few and far between in south africa :D

OH well, now that the antenna is fixed onto the upper glovebox hinge (next on the list of things to do ) witch broke a coulpe for weeks back and is driving me insane that its not working properly.

Cheers

Know all about the broken glove box. Driving me up the wall, tried glueing it back, did not worked, then glued the whole lid to the box, lasted for a couple of days. Thinking now of glueing some velcro to it of all things. Have not done anything to the car but new tyres. Tip: if you need to take the car for any service or so try Franko Motors in town. They also did work for me on my daughter's X1-9. 031 202 2660. Mention my name they will do whatever at a fraction of the cost that the dealers will ask you. Have a good one.

Hey Shot for that info on where I can go get my car sorted out Saved number(y), will def give Franko Motos a go next time.:D
Oh my!! A X1-9, what a cool car would love to get a project car like that ( Well when I can afford one )

Talk about the upper glove box try this link:

Looks good, so I'm gonna give it a try some time soon. Gonna use those magnets that you get inside computer hard drives cause they are really strong and wont fade in time like iron magnets ( see photo ) Will put up pictures of what it looks like when I get around to doing it.

Cheers Gerhardj

Greetings -

That was my bust glove box, and I resolved it with bottom-mounted black hinges like the other guy. Didn't install a check strap as the passenger door handle stops it at about half-way open, but the gap is easily enough to use it for everyday storage. Didn't need any catch or restraint, the top edge just touches and friction is enough to hold it in place.

Good luck with yours!

Good luck to you. Thanks for your question.(y)

Yes I saw the link some time ago. Do not feel to go that way, rather spent that time on more constructive things, like beer drinking. I do not use it anyway so I will most prob. loose it somewere along the line and just hammer it closed for ever!!

Hmmm.... Drinking Beer or fixing Stilo glove box? thats a tricky question to answer:D Looks like beer will win about 99.99% of the time... Ha ha:slayer:

Sorted mine out, one cold beer, some very sticky glue, presto 1min later no more flopping lid. Glued until kingdom come. Just be careful that you don't spill the beer when you glue the lid. Heh, heh, heh............

Ha Ha!!! Good job on not spilling any beer! :D I'm gonna try and fix it so that I can still use the thing, But Just noticed that my Air con is not working:bang: Oh just my luck, one of the hottest days In Durb's and no A/C!!! Do you know any good people to take it to? I tried Battery center on Moore Rd and They did not seem too clued up (dont trust many people touching my car, well thats just me hey:eek:)

Cheers

Had the same problem with mine when I took delivery. First step: check out your pollen filter. Presume that you know how to get to it. I took mine out and that improved the air flow a kizillion times. Regarding the air con I paid a visit to Cannon Cool (?) in Pinetown (Old Main Road) Checked the whole thing for me, put gas in and some color stuff to check for leaks, and only charged me R450 for it. Absolute bargain on a day like Sunday.
