Hi all ventured on here from the G-Punto section
My mate ((who has now signed up as Lee22)) has got his hands on a 2004 1.4 16v petrol Stilo
done just over 50k and reading between the lines needs a cambelt fitting (had a look at it today and isn't in the best state ((nor is the aux belt))
anyone got any tips or pitfalls to watch out for when changing the belt/s ?
I take it the aux belts on the 1.2 and 1.4 are the same as shop4parts doesn't list the 1.4 aux belt and all the other bits will fit both ((obviously air con units have their own spacific aux belt ))
Looking at it the engine will need a jack and lump of wood under it to take the weight whilst you remove the RH engine mount...
how about timing marks and the rest ((has new tensioner on order too) any Torque settings for the tensioner bolt? how about cam locking tools?
Also both top strut bearings are FUBAR is it a simple job to do ? looked on Deckchairs guide and it looks as if the strut top bearing sits on top of the coil spring.... does it retain teh spring or is the spring retained by another part IE do we need spring compressors ((rather find out now than when the car is in bits
any workshop manual for teh stilo? not listed in Haynes 2009 book list??
many thanks
