Hi fiatheads!

I have been reading a lot of post before but only just registered now.

I have been reading all the issues of MAF, EGR, Inlet Valve, etc concerning this problem as i was experiencing it first hand. The car would lose power and even stall at some startups in 1st and black smoke would come out after dropping gear and accelerating my way out of the problem.

I troubleshooted the MAF and egr and it looked like the egr or a slight combi of both.

Attempt 1

I took apart the egr and cleaned it (was full of soot) and took apart and cleaned the inlet vale (was full of silly soot) and cleaned the MAF with quick evaporative Maf cleaner and also a little bit of the intake manifold. i did notice the maf and it's housing plus the pipe coming from the turbo to the inlet valve was really wet with oil. Is that normal thats crazy!

Result: Instant regain of power and complete eradicaion of the problem!:)

Hmm but not for too long...:( after a month or so it started again!(n)

Attempt 2:idea:

I decided to take over my dad's workshop for the weeking and do a proper job there. While taking apart the egr (sooted up) it was accidently damaged by me so i bought one from shop4parts ~£110. I cleaned the inlet valve (sooted up) and cleaned the MAP sensor and the MAF sensor. I installed the egr modified gaskets and replaced the other egr gaskets with new ones as they were not going to give a tight seal fininsh.

I also added comma diesel injector cleaner and spray treated the whole air intake system with 10k boost intake decoker (super excellent product which really really works).

Result : Superior result to that it was before!!!:D I never experienced the 115 jtd like this. Superb response and performance and smooth drive all round too!!

Hmm not for long.:( After 3 weeks it came again.(n)..when i'm doing urban driving the car loses power and slows itself down exponentially despite flooring the accelerator pedal. I have to drop the clutch and and accelarate the car then bite the clutch with it..not healthy.

Sorry for such a long post. :(

Please could anyone shed some light on this issue. Is it normal for the pipe that comes out from the turbo to the intake manifold to be very oily? maybe this and the sillyness of the egr mixture are turning this into carbon deposits which is blocking the system again?is this oil normal?

Oh i didn't realise i put it in wrong section.:(

i originally put it in fiat stilo technical but i when i tried posting it went to the login screen even thought i was logged in and i lost all my form data and i accidently stuck it here now.

It's a fiat stilo 1.9 jtd 115hp.

My Zafira does this also

After a year of cleaning I got my m8 to rev the engine hard and took a hammer to the egr valve casting

Its never done it again :D

I do get the odd acceleration flat spot but nothing like I used to
