Hi all

I have a 2.4 55 plate stilo which is baffling me . The clutch pedal loses pressure and then returns as i am driving . There are no leaks , no loss of fluid from brake pot as it is still the same ,the gears change but are not as smooth as they should be .. It seems worse as i go faster and returns when i slow up or use the brakes.

Have even put card board under car to check for slave leak and ther is none. Could a blocked vent on brake cap cause this sucking air in from weak joint .

regards

Thought about that but no bleed connection just a solid piece of plastic where the pipe connects.

Your slave cylinder/clutch actuator is inside the the clutch housing. If it's leaking, fluid be inside the housing. Hope not as the bill for fixing makes your eyes bleed

Bleed nipple is here, just downstream from the pipe connection clip

I had this for around a year now, with loss of pressure with motorway driving , ( high speed as you say ) , had it in to be looked at but no problems found and even bled the system which didnt fix it , so have just had to live with it , pumping the clutch brings pressure back along with breaking . so until it actually goes proper theres nothing i can do as a garage cant find the problem.

The bleed nipple is solid plastic so you cannot turn it to release the fluid . Is it a case of removing the pipe a little and allowing fliud out through the nipple then pushing it back in . Would you pump the clutch pedal or allow gravity to work for you .

splash... hehe turn on the engine and let it idle a bit (a few seconds is enough to pressurise the system) then turn it off and bleed.. there would be enough residual pressure in the system to bleed the slave 10 times over (or you can leave the engine on to get fast flow.. but be careful.. if the pipe comes out.. splash :D)

I got PDF for this proceedure..bleed using a 2bar pressure..:nerner:;)

Take it that was a no to pumping the pedal then . Thanks for the advice guys. PNL if you had tha pdf on brake bleed 2 bar would be intrested to read that .

Have a gunsons eazi bleed kit . Could i use that or is that going to end up with mop and bucket ?.

Odd thing is only doing at speed . go,s back to normal at low speeds.
